"Yes, being with you is important. Have you considered the consequences though if your brother the Duke finds us together like this? I'll be beaten to within an inch of my life or something like it and then sent home in disgrace. It might jeopardize my cousin's marriage. I'm not saying I want to stop this. I just want us to be cautious is all."
She could hear the faint stumbling in his words. It was a rather serious matter. She supposed that if she gave her insight on it, perhaps he wouldn't be so nervous.
"Since our first kiss, I have been considering the consequences. My brother is know for his anger, and incurring in it is never wise. I Have thought of multiple situations where my brother could find us at any moment. He would get angry, and I'm not sure any amount of words I have would convince. Actions, after all, speak louder than the given speech. You would not be the only one in disgrace. I suppose one of the worst things that could happen to me in having no contact with you, staying at home under Niccolo's eyes, and never getting married. I do not think my brother would go so far as to disown me, but again, it is hard to say with his anger." She took a deep breath, in haling and exhaling. "I know that if we were found out, it would be quite bad. That's why I do not hold your hand in the castle: I don't want to raise suspicion, or give anyone a reason to follow us. But...I would like to see where this goes, and even against such terrible odds, I want to pursue this, in this moment, in this minute. If you want to make it work even after you leave, then I know that we will find a way. But if not, the least we can be is very good friends."
She didn't need an answer now. It would still be a while before he left...hopefully. "Yes...that's better." She let her head lean on his chest, her left hand slowly rubbing Sebastian's back.
