Now that he had met with Dante Sandoval, Reed decided to expand further and agree to a meeting with Remy Blackthorne. The Lord of Oria was a man of mystery and enigma, always looking pleasant and acquainted with many but well-known to none as far as Reed could tell. There was no denial that the man knew business and money very well, maybe too well, but Reed wanted to meet Remy and decide for himself.
Inviting the Blackthorne lord to a meeting in the Orchid quarter among the ware-houses seemed like a safe and neutral location. Reed had one or two concerns in the Quarter as he had arranged for the first harvests to be brought into the city, and the meeting would allow him a chance to check on the arrival. Before he left Lockewood, Reed had made sure that the harvests were on schedule. Marcus had sent a message to expect the first wagons today, coming over land and well-protected as they were the heart of the duchy.
Wearing a plain tunic and trousers, Reed did not look all that remarkable, but in the trade-quarter, it wasn't about how you looked. It was more about how you negotiated, what you had to bargain with and so on. With Marcus's schedule and the itemized list in his hand, he was standing in the square that was a receiving place for stock coming in from all parts of the Kingdom. One eye was kept out for the Blackthorne lord, a table and chairs and a bottle with glasses put out under an awning to make sure they were comfortable enough while they talked. The heat had finally started to break, making the morning comfortable.
The first wagon rolled in, distracting him to begin the work and keep him from pacing with waiting for Remy. Taking the list, Reed began his inspection, but his mind wasn't entirely on his work. He was thinking about the future.
