Elena knew that her presence in his life was only the start of significant change for the Duke of Seravino. On more than one occasion, Niccolo admitted he'd not met a woman quite like her, a statement she took in light of a compliment. In the months spent together prior to their marriage, both adapted to who the other was and how they approached fundamental matters, often from near-opposite perspectives. However, she'd also learned how to convey her thoughts and opinions in a manner that did not automatically evoke a negative response from him; already, some ground was gained from their discussions where Niccolo took the time to think over what was said, allowing them to forge compromise with which both could live. A promising start, one that gave her hope for the future, accepting in turn that these changes would not come swiftly.
She could see that her words struck something in his mind, his eyes reflecting a thoughtful mien. Careful not to push him, Elena nodded in turn, considering his method as a contrast to her own. "You appeal to their hearts, in other words, stirring their passions to sway them to your support." Able to see how that could prove effective, especially with the emotional people of Seravino, she smiled a little. Perhaps the analogy of a dragon might prove more accurate than either expected.
Tilting her cheek to receive the kiss, Elena laughed. "I would much prefer not to be consumed, though I appreciate being told you'd savor every morsel of me, sir." Dark eyes laughed in turn as she slipped the jewels back into the pouch to protect and keep them safe. "It is good to know I will endure under your care, however." The teasing was starting to come more naturally to her, her native humor emerging thanks to his patience.
Her head wagged back and forth for a moment, not entirely certain she concurred with his reassurance. Fortunately, Catalina had that keen eye and gladly advised her on what would be appropriate for the event. "Then we will make quite the ducal couple. It will be a good evening for the entire family, and then we shall host our own event. Your sisters and I have already begun to plan."
