Daniel grinned to the Lady Lily, the Duke’s sister, as she spoke, joining the conversation. It didn’t take much for him to get over being mad or moody, although there was still some distance or coolness to him as the Gardiners were foreign people to him. He was more relaxed with family. The more the conversation went with a positive tone about the Lord Marshal and Prince proper, the more Daniel felt himself endeared the conversation and its participants. ”It is rather strange to think of him that way, as he is well decorated, though perhaps as a Squire the point is for me to recognize that side of him more than, as you said, the same as us.” he conceded, as he could understand what they were trying to say.
“Ooh,” he said, oh so very eloquently when she explained. He hadn’t realized that the injury had occurred right in their backyard, and now he felt rather silly. His usually pale complexion took on a certain pinning shade though he tried to swallow back the need to blurt that he was just trying to protect Sir Pierre’s secret. “Well, yes, he is doing good, and I shall pass along your concern,” Daniel said, not all too certain how much more healing the man had to do anyways, but happy to hear people cared for his well being. In his youth, he assumed their concern to be genuine.
Then the conversation was about song and dance, neither of which Daniel did, and thought it was his chance to respectfully bow out. Certainly the Duke would listen if not dance to the song done in his honour, and Daniel thought he at least had done his part in conversation to date. He also figured the Lady Lily would also
