Emile wondered why his brother rested on reminding him of their blood ties, and at the same time was unimpressed and unsurprised at such a warming reassurance of his importance. Stephane could have at least pretended to care for him, to try and make him believe it, but his words fell dull and flat and plainly said how much he thought of his younger brother.
And then the flattery did come, although it seemed so superficial that Emile struggled to grasp how even this importance was meant. "It is hard not when that is all I've to deduce," he furthered the point. He wondered if his brother would go so far as to illustrate exactly how important it was Emile was. He was in no means used to his brother verbally prostrating himself, to anyone, the least of which his brother.
Stephane did not answer to his question about the Rohari though, and he had to wonder if he'd gone too random too quickly with his inquiry. It must have raised questions in his brother's mind, but it didn't mean they had to be suspicions. At first the younger man tilted his head as though to say "you know what I mean," but after a moment relented and expanded upon his question. "Seeing as they are no warm friend to the crown, it is curious to know how they fare with other contenders, or if perhaps they prefer to remain out of the topic."
Emile did not know the Caliph's thoughts about any of it, nor whether he was looking to become a friend of the Royal family. He did not know if they had been working towards certain terms or some other agreement until late. All he knew was what rumors and some information told, that they were wild and weren't likely to wish to bow in recognition of their liege. To see them here in the capital at all for this coronation was fascinating as it were, even if Emile himself hadn't a chance to glimpse any of them.
