She missed a step and he reached out in reaction to stop her should she seem to fall. Her hands tightened on his arm and his other hand came up to the air in front of her, but the instinct to protect her was unnecessary as she quickly found her footing again. Despite her new assured step, he watched her closely for a moment or two, not paying mind to her embarrassed flush and more careful that she was able to walk and had not twisted anything in the trip. The instinct was brotherly, granted, but the way he looked at her seemed to echo the years of fondness that had built up within him.
Each occasion he had come to spend time with her, since his fourteenth year, had had grown more rose-tinted in his gaze towards her. Of course, he had never dared to say anything, but the secrecy was becoming harder each time. Chuckling a little as she squirmed with embarrassment and laughing more heartily as she suggested she wasn’t sure he offered her reprise by suggesting; ”Perhaps we can muse about the colour of the sky, or the shade of the grass?” It was clear he was continuing to tease her, but a wink suggested he was doing so in the lightest of ways. ”Or better yet, we might discuss the weather?”. Rys has no wish to discuss any of this things with her, they seemed too trivial to him, unimportant and incomparable to her beauty which gave him great cause for distraction.
”How are the bees?” He ventured to ask, when her arm readjusted in the crook of his arm and he once more saw fit to guide them again. ”And who has the duty and pleasure of looking after them with you away from home? I am surprised that you trusted anyone!”
"Is Scarlet your only hawk, or do you have more at home?"
”Falcon.” He said, gently, but still smiling; ”She’s a falcon- Hawks are bigger and more stubborn when it comes to training- they hunt with their feet, rather than their beaks which make them great on the ground but rubbish, in comparison, in aerial attacks-“ Realising this made him appear to be correcting her, and perhaps a little arrogant he had the decency to flush a little on the base of his neck as he answered her question; ”There are others at home that I fly occasionally, but Scarlet is my favourite- she’s just mine, she rarely lets anyone else fly her and gets rather testy if I don’t talk to her for a few days..”
