He saw her for what she was right then. She was a tigress who pounced when she thought she was in danger. Granted he didn't understand the danger a kiss could bring, but it had. He wouldn't be so foolish again no matter how he might want to be. He noticed she wasn't leaving though. He figured she must be one for second chances.
"I think we've gotten off on the wrong foot here. I'd like to start over if I may. I will keep my distance in doing so," he said after the warning and he was released. He had gotten the message and knew it was for all ladies of her house.
"I do believe you have jumped to conclusions about me. I'm not well versed with pursuing a lady who has caught my eye. I'm sure being in new territory like this I will continue to make mistakes, and I am sure you will call me on them," he said expecting that to be true considering what had just happened. He rubbed his shoulder before letting his hands drop to his sides.
"If I flatter someone I do so in honesty. I don't believe in giving words for the mere sake of doing so. I don't bribe, and I try to remember to be a gentleman although at certain times it does fail me. I would like another chance," he said and then extended his hand. Her taking it would be her doing not his. He would wait though to see what she did on that. He sighed, "fair warning so we don't have another issue like before here. If you put your hand in mine considering you are a Lady, I will probably turn it over and place a kiss on the back of it. I do so with all Ladies no matter their status."
"Also, I am not concerned with the ladies of your household. It is you and you alone that has caught my attention. I'm a loyal male and wouldn't dare even consider looking at another lady let alone kisisng her. Those are reserved for you if you ever want them again," he said making things so clear it would be transparently known. He was stating his intentions and would do so again to anyone she wanted him to. Yes, it was probably another foolish move, but he was good at those it seemed.
He picked up his paint brush again with one hand glad his paints hadn't been spilt. He still had work to do, but he was hoping for company. Santino wasn't sure about her though. Had she written him off? He patted the grass next to where he sat down hoping she would understand that he wasn't looking for her to put her head on his shoulder or anything. Certainly she could learn to trust him? It was one small gesture in her sitting next to him after what just happened. He knew though that she didn't owe him anything. If anything he thought he owed her something.
