He listened saying nothing while his brother spoke. He thought it wise to let the man have his say in things knowing it might bring something maybe even hope. He didn't dare though completely with hope though. Hope was something dangerous for a House Lord in his mind. It brought things and it robbed when things didn't go the way one wanted.
"They may not have made any blows but to consider them nothing or not a threat would be a mistake. I have learned that it is wiser to see an enemy out of one than it would be to not consider them at all. They are not an ally so I can't call them anything else. As for the lady I would rather forget the matter happened at all. Please don't speak her name again," he said his eyes alight with anger this time. He didn't want to talk any more of her. What was done was done and he couldn't get it back. He would be wounded for now, and eventually things would work out. He just didn't know how.
"Perhaps we should consider changing that. It would take time depending on what we want to do though. Any thoughts on having our own raw material to trade?" He said knowing it would give them a foothold more in the business world. Fish wasn't something he wanted to go back to, but if needed they still had a few vessels and could use it. He wanted something else though something nobody had and everyone would want. He just didn't know what that would be.
"I haven't spoken to them yet no. I was trying with the Camerons and focused on one at a time. Perhaps with these families that is a mistake. What if I bring Gardiner and Cameron in together?" He said knowing that might bring trouble. He didn't want that, but it would be killing two birds with one stone.
"If she is happy with the match then I consider it a good deal. You recommend the Vanns but say she is undersold? Right now the only connections I have made are Deschenes which we have timber from, and I have sought out Delimabre. I have nothing more in that other than what you know. Why do you ask?" He said figuring his brother was devising something. He would like in on it.
Rik sighed, "I haven't since the Cameron dinner. I should seek them out and see how I can help them further if needed. I know they might not need my help though so you don't have to say that. I know they are going to court. I don't include that because we are already the Crown's vassal their business is our business. As for the Regent and her Council I have talked to Prince Julien Deveraux about House matters."
