The travel had been quite long, arduous, and tedious. While he tried to remind himself that this was a necessary trip, one that wasn't completely optional, and that he at least had to show up for the sake of their Duke... it didn't make the trip any more pleasant. Truth be told, Daario's care for Bordelaix and its Royal Family had gone from neutral to worse. To be there to celebrate their hypocrisy was ridiculous and his immediate thought had been to stay the hell away. That said, these were still dangerous times, and without much backing from others, say perhaps the Sandoval family for example, or other of their supporters, he wasn't going to risk his neck for nothing.
Regardless, there had been activity to the east - again - a small nightly raid on a border holding, and the watch tower had reported more activity from the south. By the time a larger party had arrived to fix the Rohari problem, the supposed invaders were missing in action. Not satisfied at this, considering that they might simply be laying in wait, hoping for this exact response of shrugging it off and leaving, Daario personally oversaw that they had men heading to all nearby towns and holdings, even perhaps so far as other cities if necessary, until they found what had been seen.
It took time, it was almost two weeks before they had confirmation that whatever men had come into their lands had left already. If they'd gotten what they came for, Daario did not know, but at least they were gone. The recent movement did not encourage him to leave for Bordelaix at all, but usually these raids were spaced out. With a bad feeling to the pit of his stomach, he'd set up loyal, capable men and some few women, to be extra vigilant in his absence. If there was any unusual activity, he wanted a message delivered at once and they would return.
However, that settled, Daario and his entire immediate family headed with him to the capital. While other families were likely to leave behind some family members to oversee affairs, to be certain that things were kept running smooth, someone trustworthy, the Saavedra were few and far between. He couldn't afford to risk half his family being attacked again while he was away. He had no doubt the Emir still wanted blood, just as surely as Daario had every plan to make that al-Khalid scum suffer, and pay.
The travel was lengthy, and eventually they reached the city wherein they had a small, modest home in the Lavender Quarter. It hadn't been used in quite a few years now, so was likely to be in some measure of disarray. Their caravan, horses, chests with various items, were slowly being unloaded and stowed. The horses were taken care of, fed and groomed, and the cook set herself immediately to making them a meal in their home with some of the provisions they'd brought with them. Daario himself sought to take an immediate bath, drawing himself the water so that the servants they'd brought along could continue with other more pressing matters. There was much to do and get done, but for tonight enough was enough.
After a soak, feeling refreshed and perhaps more ready to face the fact that they were now in Bordelaix, Daario headed towards the dining area, and could smell the food which was likely soon to be ready. He was certain the rest of his family would be just as hungry as he was, and he made certain that the servants knew to bring out all the food at once, then to serve themselves to eat too. He'd pushed them to get there tonight and everyone deserved a break.
