A brow quirked, as the woman found the man’s words suspicious, but decided not to comment on it. Words only went so far, and often times Therese found herself taking them too literally in conversation. Filing away the comment in her mind the Marshal instead turned her mind to the second part of the conversation, the agreement between the two of them for her services. His exposition regarding favors and coin was a bit of a distraction from the point of conversation, but Therese was polite enough not to interrupt. Sir Donato was odd in the way that he strayed in conversation to insert his opinion or philosophy on the world. It was not the strategy she often chose to take in social situations which made her wonder why this man so often did it with her? Did he wish her to confirm her agreement on his thoughts, or was it simply to fill space of time?
“No, I would not accept coin for the deed.” The coin of another Duke’s vassal wouldn’t be very valuable to her family either way. Keeping most of her own thoughts silent the woman went to cross her arms behind her back, “A knight’s duty is also to it’s own house, liege lord, and region. If I were to freely be offering my services to any house with injustices I would not be able to complete any mission or assignment asked of me.” It wasn’t perhaps the nicest sentiment, but it was a realistic one as Therese was simply one person. “However from working with you prior I believe you are mostly reasonable and trustworthy, so making an exception for an effort of friendship is something I am willing to do.” If Therese was meaning one between the two of them or their houses wasn’t clear in her words or mind even, perhaps both?
“So..." She paused reaching out a hand to him for them to shake on their agreement, "...where and when do we begin?”
