Although assured that meeting new people got easier with practice, and became less daunting the more it was done, it never felt as such to Casper. The apprehension always got the better of him; the tension could get unbearable, making him all too willing to avoid straying from his comfort zone, to best keep at bay that incessant worry that with new people he would make a total fool of himself. Do something, say something... say nothing, even. People judged him for it, or atleast that's what it felt like. "I know. I know." he acknowledged. This was the difficult thing for Casper, he knew the irrationality of this state of mind, but for all his life he had been unable to change it. "I-I am sorry... I uh, I know I shouldn't be so difficult."
He well knew that one of Marcus' many, if primarily, complaints was just how troublesome his interloper of a foster brother was socially. On many an occasion had the redhead been berated by Marcus for spoiling dinners hosted by his father for important nobles, retainers and so forth. However, as Casper did not himself understand, just his mere presence offended his eldest foster sibling. Every awkward word or crass action that ensued only served to make matters worse. Casper knew and appreciated Annemarie didn't share any such sentiment, yet that did not mean he wanted to let her down any more. It was true, even if he didn't realise it, Casper probably wasn't the easiest foster sibling to have.
As if it needed to, the hug was met with an greatful and tight embrace from Casper as he returned his sister's hug. He slouched back into his seat, and rested his auburn kissed head gently on her shoulder. Always weary and uncomfortable as he was of physical contact and intimacy, the boy was nonetheless particularly appreciative of it should it come from the right person. Annemarie, Aunt Valentine, even Connor - surprisingly; they were the right people, the only right people. But his sister, particularly. It spoke why he did not truly think otherwise for returning to Rosedale. Since Annemarie had left there felt like there was a piece missing, a void that couldn't be filled.
"I didn't! Honest" he spoke sincerely, hopefully leaving Anne in no doubt that this was the truth. "Rosedale just never... it never felt like home after you left. I..I mean, I do love Connor, truly. But he... he just tires me out so." Neither was Connor one of the mature and emotional support his sister had always offered; rather Connor sought to his enlist his foster brother in games and shenanigans, as the three did as children.
Casper was relieved that Annemarie was satisfied that he meet Lady Elsa on a different occasion to Lord Alexander. A part of him felt guilty for being difficult, another part attempted to assure himself that separate days would allow him to make for a better impression. "Yes. Yes... I think it will. And I shall be as charming as I can, for both of them."
