The presence of the Royal Princesses in Lockewood made for a frequent air of chaos swirling over the family castle, one that often sent Annemarie seeking the solace of the gardens for peace, quiet and a chance to think. She was not the most social of creatures, preferring the comfort of her studies, her garden and her still-room; however, in order to achieve her hopes, that required stepping temporarily out of character and attempting to ingratiate herself to several of those important ladies. Advised that Princess Antoinette stood as trusted adviser to her elder sister, Annemarie chose to seek her out rather than the Crown Princess, trusting her instinct that a favorable impression made on Antoinette might work best. The Deveraux heir to the Crown Princess was a woman well known for achieving what she desired.
Sending a formal, written request to the Princess for a chance to meet and speak on a matter of business was Annemarie's first order. One did not merely approach royalty casually, especially when seeking a place not yet established within the royal household. The more courtesies observed, the more respect offered, Annemarie hoped, the better. Certainly the formidable Princess Antoinette merited only the very best and expected no less from approach to meeting to conclusion. With that in mind, as she waited for a response, she allowed her mother a seldom-granted opportunity to prepare her for such a meeting in an appropriately fashionable gown in a deep blue with soft slippers to match. Her abundant brown hair was carefully brushed and styled in a simple coronet of braiding, allowing the rest to fall straight as rain down her back. She wore little jewelry, not being an elaborate sort of woman, only a pair of earrings.
Waiting for Antoinette's leisure and attention was expected; the Princess maintained a far more strict schedule than she did. Trying not to pace, Annemarie waited with a calm front, considering how to present herself and her hopes. Alexander already mentioned the idea to Princess Nicolette; had the Crown Princess spoken with her sister on it as yet?
