Bayard ate his food in silence as he waited for his cousin to think on what had been said and formulate his answers. The night was young yet, he had plenty of time to spend here with his cousin. They had been very close once, probably as close as he and Nicholas were now. The main difference between the friendships really was that he was actually related to Lucien while Nich was regarded as a brother.
"Yes, she's beautiful, but not the type to allow a guy to notice without trouble"
He grinned at Lucien's words. "And are you thinking of getting into trouble there Nuc?" He frowned though, when his cousin said he had only wondered about being able to walk around. "You mean, you haven't gone to a healer to have you leg looked at properly? What were you thinking? You should get it looked at so there's no permanent damaged done."
"True, no one wants to be a bum and you wouldn't make a very good one.'
Bay thought about what his cousin said. "Well scars are good, they show you've at least been in a battle of some kind. And even guards can lose a battle if they're outnumbered. I'll still see what I can do."
He broke into a hearty laugh. "Rabid dogs? Nuc, that's horrible. Though I'm sure it was hilarious at the time. I was fifteen when I put the frogs into Evony's and her friend Kathryn's beds the one night. I couldn't tell you who was more frightened; the girls from the frogs or the frogs from the screaming!"
As his cousin went on to tell him about the time he was drunk and danced on top of a table Bay grinned and then laughed at the end. "Wish I'd been there to see that, it sounds priceless. There was a time Nich and I got pretty drunk and danced on top of the bar in this one tavern. The wenches loved it, the owner not so much."
