She had a good morning and was ready to relax. She had walked the grounds and then sat down near a tree. Her gift had been talked about and word must have gotten out. A couple of children saw her and came sitting close. They were smiling at her expectantly. She knew what they wanted as well. She smiled back and nodded knowing she would need to come up with a good one.
"Once upon a time, a young man decided he was old enough to leave his home. He would travel the world and see what it held for him. He had no family and had been raised by an old hermit who had just passed on. Being alone in the world he had no idea what it held at all. He had with him a dagger, an empty sack which he filled with bread and cheese, and a water pouch. He headed down to the river filled his pouch and started out," she said starting a story. As she would go she knew she would get more children around her....
She noticed the man who came up during the middle of her story. She wondered who he was but didn't stop her story for anyone. She needed to keep going while this was getting good.
"He had no idea why this dragon had just saved him. He wanted to run and hide, but he couldn't his foot was stuck. He stood there waiting as the second dragon flew off. The dragon who saved him had purple scales, and was pretty. Suddenly a light flashed making him close his eyes. When he opened them a girl was standing there with purple hair that gleamed in the sun. She came forward and helped him get his foot unstuck," she said knowing this was just getting good.....
"After travelling a day or two more he realized who she was. The girl he had come to know was none other than the dragon with purple scales that saved him. He found he loved her, and they decided to stay by each other the remainder of their days. Living happily ever after," she said finally closing her story. Once it was done the children got up and dispersed. She rarily told more than one. Getting up she walked over to the man she noticed.
"Hello, did you like the story?" She asked noticing he had listened and not walked away. She wouldn't say he was mesmerized by it, but he had stayed.
