“Ahh, yes. You think spiders have beat back the ghosts then?” She laughed some more, a merry sound prompted by the light-hearted banter between the two women. Though she was genuinely worried about the castle being haunted, she did not think an epic battle between spider and ghost had been raging since the castle was emptied of its hosts.
Isobel nodded in ascent as Marie-Louise took the lead to the first room they would explore. It was truly an adventure of its own, and looking at it that way made the chores they were tasked with more enticing. They would be working while they were here, no doubt, but a twist in perspective could make time fly.
For a bit, the Cameron Lady wondered if the door was stuck, but with a mean sound the hinges gave and the door moved, slow at first until finally it was opened enough for the pair of girls to enter. The movement had dislodged some dust which caused a cough from Isobel, and the stale air trapped within also had her sucking in her breath. “Oh, wow. I suppose it makes sense that no one has come to clean the area if it’s vacant — but this is such a difference I’m sure to how hospitable the room must have been in its day,” she commented, almost sad for it.
As the younger Princess pointed towards the chests in the depth of the room, Isobel’s gaze focused on them and lost herself in thought. “You think they would have left anything of value here?” She wondered breathily, suspicious and doubtful. Then, Isobel took up again the playful tone they had set for themselves and laughed while she posed a question. “Is this the bounty promised us by our quest?!”
