Bianca was here, in Vanderhall, as requested. It wasn’t as though the request was either unexpected or inconvenient, but there was something odd nonetheless about being here on request of the Crown rather than that of her family, the true Lords of the city. She, of course, was prepared for a power vacuum, a change of the hierarchy in Vasile, but she was wary of the meddling of the Deveraux, and that they wouldn’t pick correctly. That was to say, she had some doubt as to whether her husband would prove himself to be named the next Duke. Bianca took this upon herself to accomplish, to be sure their worth was known and that their viability for the position was clear, even if it meant showing the lack of proficiency the other options presented.
Having done their due diligence upon arrival, their schedule was a bit more flexible now. The Lord and Lady of the House had their meal hour usually squared away for a particular reason or another, and evenings promised to act the same way in some political schedule. Drinks with this noble, dance with that, walk with the next. That left most of her free time in the mornings and afternoons. Secretly, though often and almost daily, Wendell saw to her husband, verifying his mind, and advising on his needs. The man was mostly physically sound, but the physician disguised as a trusted adviser - which he was - recommended some mental exercises to keep his wit about himself. He also assisted to return Lewis when he was in one of his… states.
For today, it seemed her lordly husband was doing well, and had taken with some men to visit around the city. He was not from the area, not like Bianca was, but had come on multiple occasions, and surely had his own acquaintances he wished to see while he had the direct opportunity. She, on the other hand, was accompanied by her maid, Anneke, toward the edges of the palace. She was dressed for the outdoors, a cloak covering her dress, gloves and boots on for warmth. The Lady was intending to visit a particular area of the city while her husband was away. Her plans were only interrupted when she saw a particular man round the corner between she and the exit, he perhaps having just come in from the cold.
She continued to approach, then smiled with recognition and addressed him. “My Lord Everett. It has been some while since we last met, has it not? How pleasant it is to see you’ve made the travel. I couldn’t be certain whom would answer the summons of your family.”
