Character Name: Dame Therese Ibarra
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Birthdate: June, 8
City / Region: GILBOA, Estersea
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable]: Ibarra
Played by: Jamie Alexander
Appearance:
Therese shares the same dark hair, and beauty as other members of her family. Her eyes float between hazel to green depending on the season, and her skin tone is typically sun kissed. Not at all petite in stature the woman stands at a height of 5 ft 9. While she is still gifted with a very feminine frame unlike most women her body is solidly toned muscle from years of training. Also she does have various scars that can be found spotted, but most of them are minor.
For clothing and style the woman typically wears her hair either with the sides pulled back and down her back, in a ponytail, or in braids. She is rarely seen in typical women’s clothing as she has a knack for destroying any fancy garment her mother or sister drag her into. She does however have a variety of armor which include, leather, studied leather, chainmail, or a mixture between the two. She also sometimes wears half plate, but it is often less practical. The family armor smiths and seamstresses have sometimes worked together to create armor pieces combine leather armor and a skirt as well for such occasions that it might be more fitting for Therese to be in a dress although the woman is still not used to such garments.
Personality:
Although her family has been going through quite a dark period Therese isn’t the type to be openly depressed, or grim. At the same time she isn’t necessarily happy go lucky either, but rather charmingly pleasant. She is natural leader having an air of command about her that seems to float out effortlessly even affecting those who are appalled by her position. While she is typically a calm and collected individual the woman does have a passionate streak in her that is deeply rooted in her own moral code. When she sees or hears of injustice she will not hesitate to verbally strike down the wrong doer with fiery conviction. And after years of having to argue and build a case for her own position within the house the woman is exceptionally difficult to beat in an argument. At the same point she careful not to turn her passion into rage leaving logic out of her conversation, but rather has learned to fuse both passion and sense together to build her case.
In battle, Therese is relentless almost to the point of being reckless. Unless it is for a tactical advantage it is very difficult for the woman to retreat from a fight. She is also a very deadly combatant when being pitted against her and after dealing with so many pirate attacks on her homeland she shows no hesitation when ending the life of assailant. Is is not likely to let her foes live on the battlefield unless she sees them to be of some use. It is more merciful to die on the battlefield by her hand than in a medic tent.
In social settings, Therese does well with carrying on conversations and some would even dare call her charming. At the same point she doesn’t always feel comfortable playing the role of a lady of the house dressed up in fancy garments, nor can she simply turn off the commanding presence she carries with her which can put some off in the noble circles. She has never been one to seriously flirt, or openly admire the opposite sex, or same sex for that matter. In fact unless she is using the fact she is a woman to her advantage in combat, or in a debate she does not take any flirtations at all seriously. Nor, has she ever been courted. There have been many times a man or potential suitor has made flirtations with the woman which have gone completely above her head.
Her relationships in her family are varied although most strained would be the relationship she has with her mother to whom Therese feels she has disappointed. Second would be her younger sister Fede’ as the two young women are hardly similar in any fashion, and she also pushes Therese to be more ladylike in her mannerisms. She is very grateful to and admires her father grately for not only his knowledge, and skill, but for allowing her to prove herself. Zorion view’s more of a brother and obviously her Lord than as a cousin. She is undeniably loyal to him, but at the same time will not hold back on giving her honest opinion. And Kat strangely enough Therese feels closer to her than her own sister. She has even taught Kat how to defend herself by using a spear and dagger. Therese, Kat, and Zorion are all very close and even more so with the death of Marko.

Background:
Her mother had always dreamed of having a perfect little girl who would grow up to become the perfect Lady of Estersea. Therese’s birth was at first thought to be an answer to that dream, but clearly dreams have many interpretations. The little girl was hardly typical in any sense of the word as her adventurous spirit often broke many of the rules and boundaries her parents laid before her. Never quiet, or soft spoken the girl babbled on constantly even when she did not have the concept of words. And while her mother tried her best to dress her daughter up in the finest of garments they could afford the child had a way of destroying almost every one of them. Part of this was due to the slight obsession she had with her brother and his friends.
Therese would follow Marko around everywhere he went trying to be just like him, and do everything he would do. At first the girl’s brother was utterly unamused by being followed around by his sister as if she were a lost puppy he couldn’t shake off. He would do his best to try persuading her, yelling at her, trapping, or even pushing the young girl away from him yet she was determined to be everywhere he was. His sisters stalking grew worse after the birth of their younger sister Fede’ who their mother instantly began to favor over Therese as the middle child wasn’t the perfect angel she had been hoping for. Now being ordered by his parents to watch over his sister the boy’s bitterness towards his sister grew as his tricks on her grew more vindictive and sometimes even mean, including the time he locked her in one of the outhouses by the stables. Such tortures left the girl seemingly unswayed from her goal of stalking her brother thinking that they were playing some kind of fun game between the two of them.
Her relationship went on like this with her brother until she was five years old when she finally seemed to prove herself to him. Her brother and his friends had gotten into a fight with another group of children from a vassal house when the little girl came upon them. Marko was on the ground while a larger boy was sitting on top of him trying to punch in him in the face as the young lord defended himself. Seeing her brother in danger the girl quickly leapt into action running full force towards her brothers attacker and leaping onto him. The surprise attack actually toppled the boy off Marko with Therese this time landing on him. Still in shock from being attacked by a girl the boy laid there stunned before small fists began to furiously wail on his face while the little girl shouted threats and obscenities (she had learned from her brother) at the other child. While the attack was hardly deadly the sheer shock value that a little girl had taken down the child gang leader had stopped the fight. Therese’s victim violently shoved her off of him before going to run off with the rest of the children and the fight was over. Both noble children had their teeth knocked out and both were severely punished for bullying some of their guests, but they also formed an unbreakable bond with one another.
As the years went the two siblings were inseparable, or at least they tried to be. Their father quickly began training Marko in the ways of combat to prepare him to take the mantle of protector of Estersea when the tiem arose. And while Therese wanted to be a part of such plans formal practice was at first forbidden to her as instead her mother tried to get her interested in other more suitable duties. Therese took well to most of her educational studies, learning social graces, and was even an accomplished dancer. Put she was terrible at sewing, bored of tea, and was incredible awkward with children or talk of children. Often times she would escape her mother’s watchful eye to go watch her brother practice or to work with the local hawkers. Many of the times she would actually visit with one of her family’s entertainers, a contortionist, dancer, and acrobatics expert. The once wandering performer seemed to find a permanent home wandering the noble houses of Estersea and was at the Ibarra estate quite often. Admiring the way the entertainer was able to move their body made the girl desperately want to learn. Paying the entertainer an extra fee her father perhaps thought such distractions would keep at bay from getting in the way of the guards and knights all day. Instead it only drove her to find a way to combine the techniques her teacher was instructing with on how to fight pirates at sea. Even with them giving into other demands the girl still continued begging her parents to let her learn to fight with her brother. At first her parents denied her requests simply because well it wasn’t civil for a lady of the house to learn combat other than the basic needs to protect herself. But, finally her father thought he came up with a plan to cease her incessant begging once and for all…
When Therese was about eight years old her father told the girl that he would train her himself, but that he was not going to protect her from the harsh realities of combat. His plan was that he was going to push his own daughter harder than he would any other boy with the assurance that she would give up once she saw how unsuited she was for combat, and how dangerous it was. What the man didn’t anticipate for was that the girl did not give up, and that although the first few months were quite rough she began to quickly excel as a young student. Her father also soon realized that the girl was ambidextrous easily being able to handle a weapon in her left hand as well as her right, or even a weapon in both hands.
A year passed and soon enough it was clear Therese wasn’t about to give up her training to become a marketable young lady for the house. It was clear her father would have to up the ante to drive the girl away from combat so allowed her to train with the other boys under the command of their sergeant. The man was given the same instruction to make her struggles and far more difficult on Therese. He was also instructed not to stop any bullying that might occur from the other children unless it be overtly dangerous.
While most men would have protected their daughters from the cruel jokes, sneers, or judgments placed on their daughter from her wanting to be one of them he did not. Therese would forever face such adversaries if she were to continue down her path, so the man thought it could be another way to deter her. Yet again it was another tactic that failed. The girl as she only worked harder to prove the rest of them wrong, and endured the bullying of the other children by outsmarting them. Soon enough the girl began to beat the other boys at combat scenarios and drills which started to gain her mostly hatred from the other boys she was training with. While the girl did stand up for herself as well she never treated any of the boys who stepped over the line badly. Nor, did anyone ever see her crying from them calling her names or running to her brother for help. Slowly the hatred from her comrades started to disappear as now many of the trainees started to respect the girl more for her determination and abilities.
As team exercises were built within different groups Therese saw opportunities to put herself in places of leadership for small squads. She volunteered as often as she could often choosing members of her squad more out of loyalty than rank, or sometimes even skill. Even from an early age she started to gather a following of comrades that were loyal to her leadership. The girl began to prove herself to be more than just a mere stunt as she excelled at her training and her studies. She only stayed with this group of children until she was close to ten years old when a local Knight and friend of her father took interest in the girl. Sir Enzio at first wanted to tease his friend about his wayward daughter when he first traveled out to the training grounds to watch the girl. He had already meet Therese on several occasions and had been amused by her forward nature, but after observing her he could already see the great talent she possessed as a potential knight. Sir Enzio offered, or rather insisted to take the girl under his wing as his page to Mikal. There was a heated argument between the two men that was ended by Ximon, the current House Lord. Ximon openly stated he had grown sick of the bickering and that he’d father have Mikal not so distracted by this absurdity.
Therese left home on her tenth birthday with Sir Enzio becoming his page and traveling the kingdom. When the girl was thirteen she promoted to squire, and then when she was seventeen to apprentice Knight. The man helped her develop her sense of fighting style by letting her combine her flexiblity with her swordplay. Her weapons of course were two scimitars, or her long handled war hammer. Therese Also learned to carry several hidden daggers on her person in case she needs a easily obtained thrown weapon.
Her 20th year was a year of both celebration and hardship for the woman, as she had returned home with Sir Enzio to visit family. During this visit Gibola was attacked by pirates who kidnapped children from the house of a visiting Vassel House Lord. Therese, and Sir Enzio were part of the group that helped defend the city from the massive attack. During the battle near the docks Therese discovered the which of the ships the children had been hidden away on as it was pulling away from port. Without a second hesitation the the woman charged the steed she had ridden into to battle towards the boats. The horse barely made the jump on the deck of the ship as the woman began to climb the rigging and cut down the sails while battling the pirates on the rigging. The woman was able to delay the pirates long enough for her brother and Sir Enzio to jump aboard as well to save the children. For this brave action in battle and quick thinking Therese was given the rank of Knight by her cousin Zorion.
There was a celebration after her knighthood which did of course include a lot of drinking, and an unfortunate end. In the middle of the night during an apparent drunken stupor Marko had fallen down the stairs to his death. Therese was the one who found of the body, and hasn’t been the same since that moment. Her determination and drive to protect her family only increased as she looked less to the thrills of being a knight rather to the practicality that the family needed someone they could trust to protect them. Going to her father, and Zorion the knight made her case for why she should be the next chosen as the protector of Estersea. She was still young, but the woman felt that she had already proven herself countless times over as most capable next to her deceased brother. Her cousin agreed with her, and immediately Therese was given command of the house guard under her father.
In the past year, the young woman has stayed close to her family’s preparing herself for the next role in her families life. She still hasn’t stopped being vocal in her opinions regarding her families decisions on political matters, and is pushing for them to increase the size of their navy. With all the struggles they’ve gone through the woman will be damned if she will allow another one of them to die by the hand of some assassin. In the past year she has also gained a new companion and family member so to speak, a young half-wolf pup she has named Luca. She found the pup as a stray in the woods nearly starving to death. While it may have been wiser to simply let it die after the loss of her brother she has found the animal to be a needed distraction, and hopefully a necessary tool. The pup has already been trained on her commands to follow, heal, point, stay, and guard. With the help of some of the trainers for the families hunting dogs she is hoping to teach luca more commands to make him an asset in combat.

The hauntingly beautiful voice seemed almost carried by the morning summer breeze in the gardens on the grounds of the castle. The young teenager had never been shy about singing wherever and whenever she felt the urge. It had been something she had always done to soothe and focus her mind even if it were merely humming a soft tune. At the very least she was polite enough not to disrupt those in the castle by finding a spot outside in the marvelous gardens of the estate. So there was Lady Gwyn dressed in blue, sitting under a small tree working on some embroidery as she sang to herself.
Needlework wasn’t something that Gwynevere typically liked to do in her free time, but it was at times a necessary pastime for a young woman. Besides, it was good practice for her fingers as they directed the needle and thread in and out of the soft white cloth. Embroidery was only slightly different than sewing back together someone’s wounds, and both required steady hands. Practice and boredom were not the reasons why the girl had decided to steal herself away to complete the last finishing touches on her embroidery of the white handkerchief. This had been something the young woman had been working to complete for a while, or well ever since her brother became part of the royal guard. His visits to home had become even rarer than when he was traveling the lands with Sir William, and now being surrounded by such rich, beautiful, important members of society the girl understood that Tristan was too busy for their family. Simple things such as holidays, birthdays, and such were sacrificed for the honor of serving the royal family. Out of all of them her brother was the one making a name for them out in the world, and Gwyn deeply respected it.
As everyone else seemed busy with their own adventures, resting, or preparing for the events of the day, the girl took it upon herself to steal away from time to finish the present she was planning to give her brother when she could get him alone. Gwynevere didn’t know if Tristan had a fine handkerchief like the knights had in stories then again they were typically favors from young admirers rather than sisters. He wasn’t like her to used her wiles to con gifts out her parents, but rather the man rarely asked for anything so it doubtful he had a good handkerchief. Still she had been to make the design less of a feminine nature and more suited for a knight. It was her way of being sure that no matter where his journey would take him her brother wouldn’t forget his baby sister.

Just close your eyes, the sun is going down.
You'll be alright; no one can hurt you now.
Come Morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound.
Don't you dare look out your window; darlin' everything's on fire.
The war outside our door keeps raging on...
Curled up to this lullaby...
Even when music is gone, gone...
