Character Name: Fabrizio Deliambre
Age: 33
Gender: Male
Birthdate: July 22, 1394
City / Region: Catanara, Calandria
House [Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Deliambre
Played by: Clive Standen
Appearance: Tall and deceptively lean, Fabrizio Deliambre's frame is lithe and supple, albeit still strung with a whip-chord musculature earned from a lifetime spent hauling lines, and climbing rigging to say nothing of recreational running and swimming. He wears his hair long, shoulder length at least, and usually leaves it loose, though he will wear a tail or even a braid to courtly occasions, for which he also trims (though never shaves) his beard. His hair and beard are naturally chestnut brown, but typically pick up blonder highlights from exposure to sunlight. His eyes are hazel-blue, but might appear gray or even green depending on light and his mood.
Fabrizio dress depends on circumstances, aboard ship he wears leather trousers and goes bare footed and shirtless. In port he'll wear boots and shirts with loose sleeves and open throats, at his brothers court he can appear as the perfect gentleman, with dark garments accented by the family colors. He cleans up nicely, when he has too.
Personality: Impetuous, resolved and atypically passionate for a Deliambre, Fabrizio has much of the Sea he favors about himself. Seemingly born with piscine blood, the second son of the Duke of Calandria reflects and embodies the duality of Oceanus, with a mind and mien that are ever changing, seeking and moving, and a steadfast faith for his kin and a irresistible will with which to batter his enemies. Always moving always acting whether for good or ill, the one thing Fabrizio is not is static or boring. His presence is more than his physique, bolstered by a level head out of touch with his immense passions, and a great voice which radiates experience, calm and wisdom. Always moving, Rizio is an explorer, a risk taker, and not shy. But he is faithful in his duties and steadfast in his honor.
At court, his appearance is within expectation, he knows his duty, and he executes it to the best of his ability, but the duplicity and entendre are foreign to his tongue, and his feet, so steady on a rocking, slippery deck, often stumble on the dance floor. Gregarious and warm, Rizio knows his own limitations but does not plead forgiveness of them. He is as he was made to be, and he is available as friend to all who will have him, but is an implacable and terrible enemy to those who choose that course.
Specific Skills or Abilities: Expert Sailor- Long years experience earned on every inch of a ship, Rizio is a qualified able seaman with his pick of berths, a consideration earned with his skill and not his name, which is a source of immense pride for him.
An Axe To Grind- Never seen without at least one of his signature axes, Rizio is skilled at fighting with both or either hand, as well as throwing the weapon's, having taken to the practice to ease boredom aboard ship.
Artistic: With pencils, charcoal, or chalks, whether on parchment, wood or even cobbles, Fabrizio has a knack for artistic expression. Principally line art, and particularly landscapes or nature, but portraiture (some might say caricature) is within his grasp, provided one does not mind the spartan nature of his art.
Cartographer- A more practical application of his artist mien, Rizio is often called upon to update or produce charts.
Background: The fourth child and Second Son of Antonin VI, Fabrizio was spared the honour of being the seventh of his name much to his own relief. He was just as happy to have dodged the constraint and legacy of his Brother (and Fathers) salient Name.
This is not to say that he is ashamed to be a Deliambre, far from it, but he is grateful to the Triune that the saw fit to give that responsibility to someone else. He realized early on the vast discrepancy between his life and Antonin VII's, in that Rizio enjoyed infinitely more freedom and reduced expectations, at least, from his Father and so he was free to wander.
This permissiveness took root in him like grapevine, winding its way through his his very being. He eschewed riding for walking or running, because he disliked relying on the horse or, less favorably, the responsibility for the animal. In fact he simply liked the ability to wander off paths and climb or descend at his own pleasure. He like wise preferred practical studies, mathematics and astronomy and geography (a particular favorite) to more esoteric ones such as philosophy or music. He often claims to be tone deaf yet sings with great gusto the shanties that so help pass life at sea, though if he can simply provide percussion (by clapping or stomping) he is just as happy.
From his youth, Fabrizio found ships and sailing fascinating. Not in the least because they were the fastest way to see distant places, but they also provided the freedom that he so intrinsically yearned for. That his families business was so tied to the sea was a fortuitous perk. From a very early age pestering crew with questions, and sparing none (from captains to cabin boys) and making a proper nuisance of himself, Fabrizio found an aptitude for the craft coupled with an affinity and his own capacious wanderlust.
Going to sea was as natural as breathing.
Despite the privileges of his birth, Fabrizio was an earnest and eager student of sailing and ships, and he became quite skilled at all manner of tasks, serving time in every space aboard excluding the captains chair. That he was literate and capable with pencils, only served to make him ever more valuable to the crews with which he served. His light heart-ed and sincere nature endearing him to every station of the ship, commons to nobles, and the oddly earthy wisdom he offered if asked at stark contrast with the station of his birth.
Unfortunately, a life spent as his has been leaves little room for refinement or polish, and so Fabrizio is somewhat less couth than his brother might like. Though he wears the clothes properly when at court, and doesn't disgrace himself with the fork's at dinner, his dancing leaves much to be desired and his skills at diplomacy and entendre do lack much. Still, again, his earnestness and composure, his utter comfort with himself, win him many more friends than enemies. Fabrizio is, basically, a good man, easy and amiable but fierce in battle and a staunch ally of his brother and defender of the Deliambre name and interests.
Writing Sample: The Docks of Anzio were... functional, which is perhaps the best thing to say for them. They weren't anything fancy, timbre pylons and rough planking. The smell of the river mingling with the familiar stink of pitch and old fish were cloying in the evening heat, but at least they were practically empty and relatively secluded. No one was here who did not have a cause to be, either business or in Demetrios case, the pursuit of solitude.
The docks in this regard were ideal he hadn't seen anyone on his way here, and there didn't seem to be anyone to be seen. As night settled over Anzio, Demetrio finally wandered to a stop. Another cursory glance reassured him that there was no one around. Drawing a deep breathe and exhaling it sharply, the Captain of the Severino Ducal guard drew his off hand sword, examining it for a moment before he began to work through various sword forms. Unconsciously, he began with some of the earliest he had learned, and continued moving on toward those he learned later. As had happened to him, after a while, he'd added the second sword, and so he drew it as well and continued to work. The only sounds as he moved small exhalations and the scuff of his boots on the planks of the docks.
