Pleasure was all the greater for when the work was complete. That did not mean Aneira was all business, of course. All work and no play, as the saying went, but she knew how to keep on track when it counted. Aiding Dante Sandoval took priority over her own preferences; however, she understood implicitly that the occasional distraction of a pleasurable nature would only serve him the better for the opportunity to refresh his mind and relax from the inevitable tension of the business at hand. If she were to be included, then that would merely show that their mindsets coincided. For now, Aneira did not permit herself to be lured astray. Their meeting needed to be brief out of necessity.
Her brows rose at his invitation to surprise him before a slow, speculative smile laced with a hint of sly humor curved her lips. Surprise him indeed, was it? Aneira could have far too much fun with such an opportunity, blue eyes lowering to conceal the glitter of anticipation as she reminded herself to behave. This was likely her incipient King. "I have little doubt that you will be remembered no matter what, my liege." Prudence dictated letting her comment lie there for her own health and safety.
Taking a moment to compose herself back to sobriety, Aneira felt safe in returning her gaze. Dante Sandoval was far too charming and charismatic for his own good, and perhaps hers for that matter. She spared a brief thought for the current Crown Princess; the woman likely stood little chance against this one. "Politics can sometimes intrude upon those fields, trampling crops and fertilizing them with blood. Lord Gardiner is hardly oblivious to the truth of that." She paused with the mention of the Romanovs, wanting to argue but nodded obediently. He dispensed the orders; she obeyed. That was the end of it. "I shall need a few days to tend to most of this and confirm the itineraries of many of these nobles. In the meantime, by your leave, my liege?"
