Character Name:
Aneira Trevelyan
Age:
25
Gender:
Female
Birthdate:
April 1, 1402
City / Region:
Oria
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable]:
Trevelyan/Blackthorne
Played by:
Natalie Dormer
Appearance:
A voluptuous and sensual appearing woman with creamy skin, luxuriant black hair and crystal blue eyes, she is extremely proud of her woman's figure, dressing it in lush fabrics and low-cut gowns intended to display that figure to perfection. Aneira is aware that she is beautiful and wields with the skill of a master swordsman with his blade. Long, slim legs are encased in silken skirts that swish seductively under the sway of shapely hips. She is what they had in mind when they coined the phrase 'dangerous beauty.'
Personality:
On the surface, Aneira is witty, charming, cultured, graceful, with exquisite manners frosted with the confidence that comes from an ancient noble bloodline. Though House Trevelyan no longer wields the power it once does, the name continues to brandish influence and prestige that manifests in its last scions. To some, she comes across as arrogant, perhaps vain and a little shallow, yet those people are merely envious of her beauty and her skill to make herself invaluable to many.
There are a few who view her and do not believe that what one sees is what one gets with Aneira Trevelyan, that the mask occasionally slips to reveal a woman capable of casual cruelty, monstrous acts and grave deception. She is a cunning liar, no doubt about it, but once her loyalty is purchased, it remains strong... at least until the money runs out.
Aneira does not pretend to be a good person. There are limits to the lies she will tell, after all.
Her standards are high; if a person fails to meet them, they are summarily dismissed or disregarded whether their failure lies in the areas of fashion, conversation, manners or skills as a lover. She is hardly a shy, retiring virgin, and makes no secret of the fact that she likes men. Life is too short to deny herself the pleasures that truly living can bring.
Despite the pretty mask, few to none know who she truly is. She wants to keep it that way, preferring that slight air of mystique to hover about her at all times.
Background:
Born as the youngest child of a dying noble line from the northwest of Archades, Aneira entered the world with a fanfare that promised she would be one to watch in the years to come. Given a noble child's education despite the strain on the Trevelyan family's dwindling finances, she soon showed promise as a creature who would blossom in the sunlight to be found at Court, making her the repository of the family's hopes to regain much of what had been lost.
At the young age of sixteen, she was sent to Bordelaix with the last of the family's concealed wealth in order to secure herself a place at Court and with it the chance to whisper into the delicate ears of the men in power. Using her beauty, Aneira has done her best to gain the notice of those men. Little did she realize that the gaze who lingered on her the most belonged to the King. The man was lonely after the death of his Queen; in the company of Aneira, he felt his youth and vigor restored, making her his mistress, a post she has enjoyed for the last six years and with it the lavish lifestyle it allowed her.
Now that Alexandre is in failing health, there is no one who is more solicitous or concerned for the King's well-being than Aneira. She tends to much of his needs herself, remaining frequently in his company day in and day out, proving to the King that she is more than a pretty face and a lush body. What will become of her if Alexandre dies is unknown, but she will find a way to endure. She is a survivor.
Writing Sample:
Sir Bastien was lucky to catch her! Mariette returned to her rooms late that morning, bidden by Antoinette to change her clothing to something appropriate for lunch and the afternoon's plans when the knight came knocking with his unexpected guest. Fortunately, she wasn't in a state of undress when he was admitted, offering a sunny smile of greeting to him. "Sir Bastien, this is a very pleasant surprise. What can I do for you?" Marie sobered for a minute, her blue eyes turning troubled. "There hasn't been any more trouble with Juliette, I hope?" Her conversation with her younger sister had been... interesting, leaving her uncertain whether the point she'd striven to make hit home.
The door stood open, revealing another figure waiting in the shadows of the hall. Soft, light gold brows drew together with curiosity, her eyes lifting to the knight's inquiringly. "And who is that, if I may ask?" Glancing past him, Mariette beckoned to the young lady. "Do come in, my lady. I promise not to bite on first acquaintance." Unlikely that she'd get such a promise from Mariette's older sisters, but then wasn't that why the knight came looking for Mariette?
