Character Name: Lily Gardiner
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Birthdate: September 4th
City / Region: Lockewood, Shelborne
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Born Gardiner
Played by: Emile de Ravin
Appearance: Lily stands at 5’2” and is slightly curvy. She prefers to wear copper, red, and blues as well as earthy tones. She can be seen in anything between dresses to pants, believing that appearance does not make someone a specific gender. She usually has her hair pulled back in some way, even half up and half down. Sometimes she leaves it to fall in a mess that frames her face. She has pale skin and stormy eyes but a friendly smile.
Personality: The eldest daughter of the main Gardiner line, Lily is a gifted florist and grower. A cheerful and frequently busy young woman, she embraces the idea that life is natural and everything must happen in its own time. Gardens cycle, and so does life. Outwardly sensible, she has a hidden romantic heart and hopes to find a perennial love. She is a kind heart but will defend her family members if needs be. Especially her brothers Reed and Rowan. She can be very humorous and is happy most of the time but can be angered just as easily. She is passionate about what she does and uses her intelligence for the greater good. Or what she hopes is the greater good.
Specific Skills or Abilities: Gardening, cooking, singing, sewing, and reading.
Background: Lily Gardiner was a very happy child, often found giggling and playing in the garden with one of her brothers. She grew up with a love for plants and life. She was very sad the first time she discovered a wilted rose but began to understand the meaning of life having its own cycle to go through. She hasn’t let this destroy her happiness, often found smiling still but being silent in most situations. She was always particularly close to Reed growing up but has distanced herself slightly since he has become the Duke. She chooses not to get tangled in politics unless she absolutely has to. She can still be found easily in the gardens because she figures that is her true home, not wanting to be confined to enclosed spaces ever since she learned how to walk at the age of 3. She was a late bloomer with walking because she was a very talkative child.
When she was 7, she began to take an interest in the arts and took to singing. She started sewing not even a year later. Cooking and reading became a part of her life when she was 13, loving the chance to be alone. She often sings or hums as she cooks. Her family is very tight-knit and she considers herself lucky to be in such a close family. She is very protective of them because she knows what they have been through and because she is very loyal to them. She has been since birth practically because they’re her family. She does love and protect her sisters but is a bit closer with her brothers. She did try to be a good influence for Rosemary and Thorne but found herself spending too much time in her garden and not enough time with her sisters when they were younger. She slightly regrets this and tries to make up for it in creating an adult relationship with them. She is also close to Annemarie and Sage. When she was 18, she began to concern herself with her appearance. Before then, she would usually come in from the garden with leaves or sticks in her hair and dirt on her dress but now she is very concerned about it, worried about taking a husband one day. Her soul is still bright and light, her smile almost unbreakable.
Writing Sample: Lily had been out in the garden, like always. She was humming to herself as she tended to the garden. It was a humid afternoon but not horribly hot, the sticky air causing her to sweat slightly as she continued to clip roses carefully. She also checked on her herbs and made sure everything was well watered before going inside with a bucket in hand that was now full of herbs. She placed them in the cabinet she kept all of her herbs, tying them upside down so they could dry before going to her room to wash up. She sat after her bath in front of the mirror, brushing at one curl as she wondered what her brothers had been doing. Rowan and Reed were both busy men, no doubt. That didn’t mean she didn’t want to see them every now and then, the Gardiner woman decided to pop in and see if one of them wasn’t available right now. Of course, Reed was the first brother she went to bother. She discovered he wasn’t in his office and she couldn’t find Rowan anywhere.
Things had been…difficult lately. She found herself burying herself practically in her garden and it wasn’t because she hated her family, which was the opposite of how she felt about her family at all. She went to her herb cabinet and grabbed a few dry ones before going to seek out Annemarie. Lily didn’t hate being alone but she didn’t like it either. Maybe the herbs would be something they could discuss together, although that topic would wither away. Lily just couldn’t figure out what had gotten into herself lately but she wanted it to go away.
