The market was full of people this beautiful day with a great variety of goods salesman tried to entice buyers. Dahlia herself had stopped at a stall that sold exotic jewelry and was fascinated out the new. With interest of primarily two earrings she lifted them up and placed them against her ears before she turned to her guard as she had conversed with during the entire time they found themselves on the market together. "What do you think? Which one do you prefer?" She asked, smiling happily towards the guard who saw the less amused. "I do not know..." Dahlia placed her head slightly askew while she watched the guard with a joyful smile. "Of course you do. Everyone has an opinion about what they like or not. "Trying she lowered down one earring on one side and shifted after a while by raising the other. Right or left? Then she realized that he might, like her, liked them both and suddenly she raised up both and tested the opposite too by lowering them away from her face. "The right one." The guard said just to get the matter over and done. Dahlia laughed at the sight. "I am sorry. We will be leaving soon, I promise."
Dahlia put back jewelery she had in her left hand and held up the second one in front of her so she could examine it with thoughtfully. The moment she did this, she heard loud screams and laughter behind her that made her turn around. Pretty soon she caught up movements of children who threw around something while another child ran between them in an attempt to capture what was thrown. Four young boys and a young girl. Was it ..? Was it a doll they threw around? Her gaze went back to the girl as she now saw had reddish eyes from crying and suddenly she understood the situation. Her guard had also noticed what happened and when he saw Dahlia, he made an attempt to stop her. "My Lady, I ..." he managed to say before she walked towards the boys like a cat with a focus on its prey. The moment the doll was thrown over to one of the boys, who were placed right in front of her, he shouted 'I have it' just before she snatched it out of his hands. "... and now I have it." Surprised, the boy spun around and when he saw the guard approaching to catch up on Dahlia he stepped back in uncertainty over what it all meant. "What is happening here?" She asked sharply, glaring against each of the boys. Eye contact was not her strongest side, but there were times when she did not actually cared about what others thought or felt about her. Occasions like these. "W-we are just joking ..." stammered one of the boys and did not much longer before Dahlia cut his sentence with one of her own. "I can see that. It is welling tears of joy I see, rigt? "She said, looking quickly against the girl before she again looked against the boys. One of the boys opened his mouth to say something but changed his mind again when he met Dahlia's strict gaze. "What are you waiting for? Get out of my sight, or do my guard have to help you with that? "
When the boys ran away Dahlia sat down on her haunches and brushed off the doll a little before she raised up her eyes at the girl who stood at a distance. The girl looked confused. Confused, sad, uncertain, happy and scared at the same time. Warmly Dahlia smiled at her and waved a little with her hand for the girl to approach. The little girl hesitated first a second but then came and stood beside Dahlia. "My guess is that she is yours." Dahlia said in low voice and saw against the girl again. The girl nodded briefly and gently handed Dahlia up doll to her. "My name is Lady Dahlia, what is your name?" The girl looked up from the ground where she stood and hugged the doll while Dahlia asked for her name. "Sara." Successed the girl to whisper after being dumb with Dahlias in her vicinity. "Nice to meet you Sara." Dahlia said which made the girl smile before she ran away.
"Remind me never to have children in the future ..." Wandering away from the place the girl left her, Dahlia sighed with a sentence that made her guard to look surprised to her. "What do you mean?" He asked blankly and slowly Dahlia turned her head to look at him. "Yes, you saw what happened. Much easier with animals like a puppy or kitten." She said as if it were a given answer. But she had a hard time imagining herself as a mother. The responsibility as the mother felt unrealistic on her shoulders. "You do not think your future husband would have opinions on that point ..?" The guard tried to say as carefully as he could but dared still question Dahlia because she was not the kind of person that became angry over such things. The issue got rather Dahlia to smile. "What do you mean? Do not you think he wants to replace children with puppies? "She joked and laughed. A joke that actually got the guard to smile weakly for the first time this day.
