The party of those who had just arrived and those who had come to greet them sorted itself out in due order, as servants hurried to and fro to fetch the trunks and baggage of the guests and stow it away on carts. Nathalie stood to the side, watching all the hustle and bustle, enjoying the busy scene, and eventually her father directed her to one of the carriages that had been standing by to take them to the ancestral home of the Delamaras. She wasn’t feeling fatigued by their sea journey herself. But the consensus had been to eschew sight seeing for the while and get to their temporary quarters where they could rest and recover and repair the damage done by tossing waves and rushing wind and briny sea spray. Nathalie was slightly disappointed. But Kathryn - Lady Remington - had so kindly invited the younger woman to accompany her, and her Lord brother, later, to have a look around Lavigne . So it seemed her curiosity would be mollified, at least in part, before they supped that evening.
Without complaint, the young woman took her appointed seat, which, it turned out, was next to their handsome host, Lord Dederik Delamara. As the horses pulled into their harnesses, and the carriage lurched forward, the others about them began low conversations. Nathalie – not wanting to look a dullard – turned to her host and said politely, by way of passing the short time which she assumed their journey would take, “I’m quite looking forward to the coronation. It’s not every day one gets to see a princess crowned Queen Regnant. I’m quite excited for my cousin, aren’t you, Lord Delamara?”
