Her plan for attracting the attention of Lord Gardiner had been going smoothly albeit it was still in the beginning stages. With other men, the Sandoval lady might have been more forceful or forward with flirtations, but with things were different with the Duke. Maricela knew she had to be delicate with her advances to set herself even further apart from the other ladies at court. Still, happenstance could be created couldn't it? It was a educated guess, but as often as she could the young lady made sure to make a daily appearance in the gardens. The Gardiner's were known for green thumbs, and their love of horticulture so it would only make sense that Reed would perhaps be strolling in the only gardens in the kingdom that could perhaps rival that of Lockewoods. This location was the best opportunity for the two of them to stumble upon each other before the planned events.
The self proclaimed princess had not gone into the gardens completely alone of course, Effy, her young maid along with another servant had come to bring the small easel, canvas, brushes, and paints that were neatly packed together in her traveling kit. Walking through the gardens, and sketching had become old hat to Maricela as the artist longed to strike some paint on canvas. It was fortunate for her to find inspiration inside of a gazebo with rose bushes and vines lined both the outside and the inside of the stone walls creating the perfect place for the lady to paint while staying in the shade. Seated on one of the wooden benches inside the open building the lady had a perfect view of the gardens as wanderers had of her. Yet even with the perfect view of the grandness of the garden's Cela found her attention draw to something far simpler that stood out from everything else. Blue eyes darted from her canvas studying the subject of her painting, a pairing of two large yellow roses in one of the many bushes. Certainly the young woman could have chosen something more grand than the simple flowers such as the view of the pond, the castle, or even the entire rose bush itself. Instead, she choose to focus on the details of the flowers itself and how they paired themselves with another in a strangely romantic nature.
Perhaps a little too entranced by her own artistic vision Maricela squinted a little studying the roses for a moment before moving back to the painting to add more highlighting to the petals she had already painted. Although there was the risk of getting paint on herself the lady still strove to dress to impress any who passed by. Her long, dark hair was pulled back into an elegantly braided bun with tiny white flowers delicately placed in the creases of her braid. Shorter loose strands of hair framed her oval face accenting against her pale skin as a pearl necklace was around her neck. The dress she had picked out for that day was a striking, aqua in color a rarity among many young ladies yet it was certain to draw the attention of those around her.
