Bordelaix was not the favorite place for either Daragh or Aydan to be, but they had a duty to be there. Since they had to spend some time in the city, they might as well see about some business with several of the other lords in the Kingdom. Deciding that the Delamars were a good place to start, he sent a note to the Count of Lavigne to see if he was available for a meeting to discuss timber. Inviting Aydan to come along since some of the goods Daragh was looking to offer came off his lands, he offered to meet Lord Delamara in the Orchid Quarter at one of the taverns.
He came prepared with a list of the last year's timber production and some of the different kinds of woods that could used. There were some pitch bogs in Forestier, and Daragh intended to see if the Delamaras could use it for their ships or if he should save it to see if Lord Deliambre wanted it, as he knew the Deliambres built their own ships. He could not remember if the Delamaras built their own or purchased them from another ship-building family.
A table in a more quiet and out of the way tavern was held for the three men and there Daragh waited for his uncle and Lord Delamara to join him. He had a mug of ale in front of him but he was sipping it slowly to make it last. He would need his wits about him for the discussion if he wanted to make some ground up. And there was also a very good possibility that he could find a marriage for one of his cousins or sisters in Delamara if things went well. The burdens of being the Count didn't sit easily on him but he had a responsibility and he intended to see it through. It was time to take care of business.
