Character Name:
Eimilie Deschenes
Age:
25
Gender:
Female
Birthdate:
May 17
City / Region:
Forestier, Faucheux
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable]:
Deschenes
Played by:
Summer Glau
Appearance:
Em is a slight girl of 5'3" and shares the coloring of her family. Her long hair is a warm brown and waves like the wheat in a summer breeze, and her warm brown eyes convey the depth of emotion she can feel-- be it anger, fear, or the enormity of caring she has for others. Eimilie's normally fair skin has taken on a healthy glow from many days of hard work and play outdoors. Her clothing hides a thin but toned frame and she is stronger than she looks.
Personality:
A middle child, but the eldest daughter, Eimilie grew up in a unique way. She always looked up to her older brothers and tried to help in the raising of her younger sister. A free spirit, she's always had a caring soul and would give the clothing from her back to help someone in need. A smile can often be found on her face and she tends to find the silver lining in every storm cloud. Not much seems to dampen her spirits. However, she often seeks solitude with the horses she loves so dearly. Her refuge, they afford her a place to think and speak her thoughts without recourse, and they always help her to feel better when she is upset.
Em is a strong young woman and she isn't afraid of a little hard work. Whatever is needed, she completes the task without complaint and puts all of her effort into it. She doesn't believe in doing anything halfway. Her family comes first for her, and she is fiercely loyal. Once betrayed, it is hard to earn back her trust, though she generally tries to see the good in everyone.
Specific Skills or Abilities:
Eimilie has always had a way with animals, but most especially horses. They have always been a refuge and a comfort to her. She finds it easy to get along with people, though she is often fairly quiet and reserved, but she often sees and understands the emotions of other people and typically will try to help. She loves to make people smile, and her kindness and sweetness often do so.
Background:
The third child of the third line of Deschenes, Eimilie grew up with few burdens. She knew she would never be in line to inherit, and her marriage would gain her family little. Perhaps that was why she had yet to be wed. But that hasn't been something she has worried about overly much. The most important things in her life have always been family, and her people. In other cities, it may be looked down upon to have such a love of the common folk, but Em had always enjoyed the hard work and camaraderie she finds with the little people, not to mention how good her accomplishments have made her feel. She has never been one to be lazy or shove off her work to someone else so that she may do as she pleases.
With her uncle ill for the last several years, it has fallen mostly to her eldest cousin, Daragh, to lead them, and she has followed with utmost loyalty. She gets along rather well with him and enjoys his company, as well as that of others in her family. Life has had it's hard moments and the effects of war can still be seen, but Em has never let it affect her too much. It has only caused her to work harder over the years, and her family and her home come first for her.
Writing Sample:
The summer sun was shining as Em made her way across the grounds. A light breeze lifted her tawny locks and cooled her damp skin. Smudges of dirt she didn't even realize were there dotted her face. Her destination was the stable, her favorite place in all of Forestier. The scent of dirt and hay and horse greeted her as she approached, and her smile grew. Forestier was her home and it had been her entire life, but nothing felt quite as much like home as the barn.
The moment she entered, a dark bay head was stuck out from a stall halfway in and a loud whinny was let loose. The stallion was obviously as happy to see his owner as the young woman was to see her horse. He was young yet, but smart, and they had a close bond. Eimilie drew a hand down his beautiful face and tickled his nose gently, causing the horse to raise it's lip and the woman to chuckle lightly.
"Good morning to you, too, sweeting. Do you fancy a ride this fine day?" The horse nodded it's head with a nicker, a sign Em took to mean yes. With much work already done before mid afternoon, she decided a couple of hours to ride would be alright. A day such as this shouldn't be wasted, after all. So she went about the pleasant task of grooming and tacking the big bay. Before long, she was mounted and heading out, eager for a little time alone to relax and enjoy herself and the beautiful forests of her home.
