Every day brought some new crisis or conflict, some problem that needed correction or issue that required the royal touch to prevent further conflict. Fortunately for Nicolette, the sheer number of sisters and cousins available to lend their skills was considerable, allowing her the much needed opportunity to delegate tasks rather than attempt to spread herself far too thin. Hoping to set a worthwhile precedent for the future, she considered which family member might be best suited to the task she had in mind, her gaze falling on her cousin Olivier's name.
Younger brother to Lucien, she knew, and twin to Olyvia, who was part of Juliette's entourage now. The young princess had been of great help in welcoming the Remingtons and the returning Deveraux cousins to Lavigne; perhaps it was a logical move to involve Olivier now to open the negotiations with them. He could apply to his sister for details on the pair, and in doing so, establish his credentials in Nicolette's eyes for future endeavors. She was not about to make the same mistake her father had in allowing the members of their family to remain idle. That decision cost them Lucien; she would not risk losing more members of the family to indolence, idleness and a lack of contribution to the preservation of their family's legacy.
Satisfied with her choice, Nicolette sent one of the pages to request Olivier join her in her morning room at his earliest convenience to discuss a service she requested of him. Hoping that he would be more receptive than Lucien, she prepared herself and what she knew to relay to him on his arrival. This was just the first step of many in the saving of the Deverauxs, if she had her way.
