Wanting to spend some time with her betrothed without the pressure of her family or half the court around them, Annemarie sent a note asking Alexander to meet her in the stableyard of the palace to join her on a ride into the countryside beyond the city gates. She wanted to enjoy the late summer morning but more, she had a purpose to their jaunt. There was a very nice parcel of land that she made inquiries regarding its availability. Upon learning that the parcel might well be available for sale, she had a definite thought as to a purpose for it... provided Alexander shared her opinion.
Awaiting him in the courtyard, she was already mounted on her mare, wearing a light linen dress with short sleeves and a broad-brimmed hat to shade her face against the sun. Annemarie had little liking for a sunburnt nose. She reached up to make certain the hat was secure, letting the horse dance a little in place before soothing her with a pat to the neck. Trusting that her absent-minded scholar would be along shortly, she let her mind wander towards the recent projects in which she was involved, hoping to begin marking progress. Whether that would be the case remained to be seen.
Glancing up, the apothecary swept her gaze around the area as if to see who might be lurking about. There was a constant flow of people coming and going, seeking the attention of the princesses and varied members of the court. The new Council was starting to take shape under the Crown Princess-turned-Regent, and politics were raging. Today's ride out of the city would be a welcome respite... all she needed now was Alexander. Where was he?
