Character Name: Tamara Fontaine
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Birthdate: February 8th,
City / Region: VIELHA, Estersea
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Fontaine
Played by: Sophie Turner
Appearance:
Tamara has always been seen as a lovely girl from even when she was a child. Her striking red hair from her Eneko bloodline made the girl stand out from others in her immediate family contrasting against fair skin and striking blue eyes. As the girl grew into womanhood she became even more beautiful as curves set into place. She is not at all shy about her looks showing them off whether she is wearing her knight apparel, a gown, or a one of her mixtures of the two.
As a knight’s apprentice Tamara took the opportunity to learn specifically how to fight in ladies clothing (corset and all) as well as typical armor. Because of this she has a variety of outfits for both court, and martial wear including some of her own designs.
Personality:
To lead her family, or even to achieve the rank of countess was never Tamara’s dream. Out of all the people in her family the woman is probably one of the most unlikely candidates for the role and the responsibility associated with it. Thus the death of her father and brother has forced Tamara into a state of metanoia although the change is still currently progressing.
While she does have a deep love and loyalty towards her family Tamara was never known to be entirely reliable. As a young girl she daydreamed too much often forgetting about her chores or was easily distracted by the sudden impulse for an adventure. Barely skating by with her responsibilities the girls greatest desire in the world was to live life to its fullest by having adventures and lots of fun. The woman’s fun loving nature and free spirit has changed very little over the years as well as her impulsive nature. Instead of doing what she should do the woman more often than not does what she wants instead. While her new rank has forced her to temper this quality a little the woman is still trying to find a balance between her own desires and her responsibility.
Her natural free spirit and impulsive nature did lead the girl to be more rebellious than others of her family. Breaking the rules, getting into trouble, back talking, and having punishments were a commonality in her life. Even as a knight’s apprentice Tamara made instinctual decisions that her teacher was not always impressed with. This became even worse as she grew up into a beautiful young lady and began to see others taking notice of her. Unlike some more modest young women Tamara was quick to acknowledge her natural beauty and to learn to use it to her advantage. Becoming quite the flirt as a teenager she learned quickly how to wrap men around her fingers and used that as an advantage when the situation applies. To this day Tamara is still a flirt and a tease growing quite confident in her skill.
For as much as the girl got into trouble she did quickly grow tire of punishments and learned how to talk her way out of trouble. While at first this was merely a means to an ends the learn quickly learned how to use her charming qualities to negotiate to get what she wanted, or to reason with her family. As a young woman she has crafted and honed her charms to become a temptress into both getting others to do what she wants which has done much to assist her with keeping the family together.
Many of Tamara’s personality traits also come from her being a warrior, she is confident yet very arrogant at time in regards to her skills. While she is more confident in her prowess on the battlefield she is learning how to use that confidence in the courts. Certainly being a young woman in a role that typically belongs to older men has presented a lot of challenges, but Tamara will not allow herself to be overlooked because of these qualities. In her family her word is law, male or female, old or young you best obey lest there be dire consequences.
Because of the majority of these personality flaws that the young lady had her uncle’s gave her the opportunity to step down from her position. While the thought was of course highly tempting since the death of her father and brother brought about a change in the girl. The unreliable rebel developed a stronger sense of responsibility for her family mixed in with her own determination. Tamara could see that other members of her family saw her as unfit to lead them, but the woman knew she could prove them wrong. Secondly as the eldest she needed to step up to protect her mother, and siblings position in the house. While her own selfishness still eats at the young woman she has matured enough to see that protecting her own family outweighs her own desires. She also feels in a sense chosen as a leader for her family and that she is the only one who will be able to bring them through this trying time.
Specific Skills or Abilities:
Armor/Clothing Design- While she is not a blacksmith, or leather worker Tamara has learned how to craft her own designs by working with local craftsmen to fashion armor in consideration of not only the female form, but types of armor that can be worn with dresses at court. It is not uncommon for the woman to be seen wearing an armored corset matched with suitable skirt or dress. She does have a small following of those who consider her fashion forward however in regions who frown upon women warriors her clothing designs can be seen as more costumey.
Martial Combat- The young lady was trained heavily in saber and dagger combat. Typically she will fight with either her saber, saber and main guanche, dual daggers, or Cloak/weapon. Instead of using shields Tamara uses either a secondary weapon and one of her detachable skirts as a way to protect herself.
Expert Marksman- Tamara’s forte in combat is her throwing weapons, daggers. The lady rarely misses her mark, and has felled many with this skill. Even when in a social lady’s gown she always carries hidden throwing daggers on her person. Character History:
On a cold day in February, Tamara was born with a cry that echoed throughout the castle walls. The voicterious cry eluded to the type of child the young girl would be, loud, reckless, and always chattering. The second child of the Fontaine’s consistently found herself in trouble with everyone and anyone although she truly didn’t mean any harm by it. She simply did what she wanted to do which involved fun and sometimes dangerous adventures. Because of this Tamara was constantly in trouble with her parents who tried multiple forms of discipline to tame the wild red head, but while some lessons sunk in the girl was extremely stubborn. While she was a child the girl decided to run away from home 3 times, each time venturing further and further out away from the castle before eventually reality sunk in and she returned home.
As a child Tamara was educated with her brother by both family and private tutors as well. While she was not the highly intelligent student her brother was, the girl was above average in her studies. Her true interest however stayed in more martial combat, battle tactics, and some political history. She was also taught the ways of animal husbandry and care taking as any fontaine would, but was far more interested in the families heard of Bausto ponies. These are a rarity in the kingdom as they are the interbred children of the horses from the of the original Fontaine’s and the local wild ponies in the area. When each of the children in the house turn 16 they are promised a foal from the small herd. Tamara’s steed, Ranger, has been a faithful companion to her ever since the two of them were introduced. When they are together the pony will follow the young lady around faithfully, and gets very jealous when the woman gives any of the other ponies her attentions.
Tamara’s parents knew this rebellious spirit had to be broken, or at least altered in someway to temper her in the future. This was perhaps why the girls parents agreed to allow her to train under the knights. The girl’s older brother while it was his duty to learn the art of swordplay had very little interest in learning the ways of battle. The second eldest however was fascinated by the art of war, and was very competitive. She begged her parents to let her train under Nicholas’ tutor and they only agreed in hope the older brother would feel motivated to get better at the sword. Such plans were fruitless, Tamara excelled at her training while her older brother was consistently getting the fluff kicked out him. As she continued learning the girl began to start fights outside of her training sessions with other boys in the area and with her family.
One of the knights in the service of the family, Sir Edmund, took interest in the young girl after watching some of her training sessions. Already news of the Ibarra girl who training under Sir Enzio was spreading across the land, so if she could do it then why not 9 year old Mara. Sir Edmund offered to her parents the opportunity to study under him. Tamara begged her parents to allow her to become his page so she could eventually become a knight as well. While at first her father was completely against the idea he started to realize that under Sir Edmund’s training the girl would have to learn obedience and figured eventually she would want to quit. Hopefully when she came back home to the fold she would be much more tame than she had been before. Unfortunately they did not know her teacher very well…
Edmund was not your typical knight, he knew the value of both being in the front lines and of subterfuge. Tamara being a girl was the perfect person to lure others into a false sense of security. So as a squire the knight taught the girl how to easily craft lies, and to even con people when such things were needed. The Fontaine girl excelled in this type of deception using her appearance as a weapon against them. The duo did spend time traveling around in Estersea breaking up local criminal activity, investigating crimes, and protecting those who needed it. Sometimes their ventures did led them outside into neighboring lands, but the Fontaines were very specific to make sure Tamara stayed relatively close partially to keep up with her education. When sometime after her thirteenth birthday the girl obtained the rank as squire.
In her late teens Tamara progressed to the rank of knights apprentice, and during this time she came across other knights visiting the area. One of these handsome knights was Eric who was rumored to be the woman’s first romantic interest. Rumors and scandal followed their affair as the two were clearly smitten with other, but no one knew for sure how far their relationship went. Anyone asking Tamara of it at the time would only receive a devious smile and laugh for an answer as she’d walk off. Whatever the relationship was it only lasted a couple of seasons when the death of both the count and his heir rocked the very foundation of the Fontaine’s.
The two men had been returning home from checking on the sheep herds when they were attacked and murdered on their grounds. The young knight apprentice was among those who found the bodies on display. The deaths were completely unexpected, and there were no clues as to who was behind the attack although the motivation was clear, whoever did this wanted to weaken the family. As Tamara’s brother was only a child he would be unfit to lead the family, and thus the 19 year old woman was next in line. Knowing the lady’s ambitions and her past history clearly concerned her family. The uncles did offer her a way out suggesting that she name one of the them the new head, but the woman refused it. As much as it pained her to disregard her dreams the once rebellious has gained a new sense of loyalty to her family.
It has been a few months since Tamara has been named countess and although some of her family members are still unsure of their new leader there are others who fully support her position. Yet the woman has learned to use her confidence to her advantage and will get the chance to prove herself more as a leader when the family reaches the capital. Whither the Fontaines will rise or fall remains yet to be seen…

The woman merely tilted her head at the knight's logic regarding the dual occupation. It was obvious from the expression on her face that the Dame was judging the man's words, or rather the man himself. Had he perhaps been drinking some of the missing wine? After her search was completed she would need to test this theory, if he was anything like her father he could cover up the scent of alcohol unless one stood close to him. "No, I don't think it would be possible at least on me. And, if that is the case then you are a terrible priest Sir Donatello." The lady paused not really understanding the concept of him exerting knight charisma upon her although she realized her words may have sounded harsh. "I mean no offense. "
Her fingers ruffled through the clothing finding mostly useless items and a few coins she gathered with the intent to give the other knight. At the very least the money may offset some of the value already lost in the shipment to his lord, and the dead men didn't need the money either way. Blinking at his indication of the paper slipping out of a pocket the woman quickly wen to pick it up. One side was blank while the other was full of crudely crafted ledger as the Marshal suspected. "Ah, here it is..." Standing up the woman walked over to the knight showing him the document that she held in her right hand, "Looks like those are the items sold, the price, and then the main percentages." The woman paused looking over the paper as there were three different percentages, "This Seeker is likely the organizer as they have the largest cut."
The investigation at hand paused again as the man now seemed distracted by the fact she had given him her name. Therese had suspected he would take more interest in her family name than her first, but yet she had yet again been wrong. The woman gave him a flat look, "Marie?" She paused, "How would you come up with-?" Therese didn't finish her question as she shook her head, "You're right, it is good I gave you my name." Again the Marshal was about to matter at hand when he offered her to come with him while proceeding to call her by a variety of titles. Lovely Lady however sparked a pointed look from the Dame now wondering if he was indeed making fun of her. Then again if he truly had been drinking perhaps that could explain his poor choice in words. The woman stepped now closer to him locking her gaze with his. She had done this enough times with her father that the woman should easily tell if he was under the influence. If there was any concern over how close she was invading the man's space there was no reflection of it on her face or in her posture even as she stood there for a near minute. Hmm, there was no indication of drink on his breath or in his eyes. At that the woman went to step back, "Lovely or lady are not titles I hold Sir Donatello. Now, do you feel you truly need my assistance?"
