Daniela had her father's relatively open mind to thank for her perspective. Despite all the tragedy that haunted the Savarese family, Antonio took genuine pleasure in the world around him and instilled in his daughter a love for all that the Triune created. "It takes all kinds of people to forge the world, my lord. If we were all the same, it would be rather dull. Fortunately, there is room for both kinds - those who remain to keep the home fires lighted, and those who venture out and follow those beacons home." For as much as she wished she could be the one to venture out, duty and a love of Terre Verde would keep her in the county.
Reminding herself that a few chance meetings while he conducted meetings with her father did not equal a significant or lasting impression, Daniela tucked away the momentarily hurt feelings that Arturo did not recognize her in favor of enjoying the subtle advantage she now possessed. She knew of him but he remembered none of her. That made this a whole different kind of fun now.
One thing about Arturo Montefiore had not changed - the man was a consummate flatterer, complete with a silver tongue. Obviously a beneficial skill for a merchant, she couldn't help the low, amused chuckle. "Oh, I am quite sure of that, my good sir. You are clearly a connoisseur of feminine pulchritude, but I really must wonder how many ladies have heard themselves described as the perfect canvas." Glancing up at him through her lashes, her eyes were downright wicked for a moment. "I hope you did not use such a comparison in Rohari. I can't imagine it going over well, and it would be a shame to mar the good work of the Triune in blessing you with such a face."
Selecting one of the reds and the ivory over which she'd sighed, she smiled at the merchant and began to bargain quietly, leaving Arturo to digest her words.
