Old wounds were still raw into Joseph's being, as he mourned the existence of his brother and nephew. He felt it most whenever he saw his brother's eldest daughter, Tamara, or heard of her. She had denied passing him the role of being Count of Vielha, and he couldn't quite understand why. He knew he could do the job, and as far as he knew the people believed it too, but why did she doubt him? Why had she stubbornly kept title to herself, knowing she couldn't do the job? Knowing she was jeopardizing their House and their people? He simply could not wrap his head around it, and it made the whole situation even more sad.
For today, Joseph had to see his niece for business. He would rather make these decisions himself, but he still had enough respect for the position and procedure not to go around Tamara. At least, not for this. One of their newest flocks of sheep were ailing. His suspicion was that something was off about the food they were fed, but the family overlooking the farm seemed intent to say it was a faulty ram. This was absolutely bad for business but had to be looked into, and if necessary should the sheep be sick the flock might need razing.
"Yes, I have an appointment," he answered, tersely as a servant checked him before allowing him forth. An appointment with his niece, less than half his age. It was almost embarrassing.
He had a smile on his face though, by the time he was led forth and saw the red-headed relative in question. To her, he gave a short bow, and a polite greeting. "My Lady Tamara, niece, thank you for receiving me on swift notice."
