Since their arrival continued incognito, Emery took advantage of the anonymity to learn the city's ins and outs and to glean what scraps of information were dropped into conveniently listening ears. The realm of Archades appeared to be in a state of some flux with the shift of power from the aging, demented King to his daughter, a prime opportunity for any outside land to strike if they were of a mind to do so. The Kingdom of Lindblum intended to profit from the chaos, but not to consume the entirety of the land called Archades; they merely wanted to regain the region that had been taken from them.
With that in mind, the two men were present in Bordelaix to take stock of how achievable that plan might be, whether through negotiation or other means. By mutual agreement and after discussion with the King, the two entered the realm without fanfare or escort, preferring not to be hindered by formality. Traveling through to the capitol city, they arrived too late to observe the coronation of the new Crown Princess and see the transition from the King to the Regent, but learned of the other events, including a Royal Hunt.
That piqued Severin's interest, no surprise to Emery. His Prince was a skilled and renowned hunter, known throughout Lindblum for his ability to track and take down prey. Fortunately, Severin was a humane hunter, rather than a savage, choosing what he hunted with a mind towards the population of animals and never allowing the meat or hide to go to waste. For that, Emery was grateful; such thoughtfulness boded well for Severin's time on the throne.
For now, he'd had their horses saddled to ride out of the city, the better to examine the purported hunting grounds. Neither man had a liking for hunting in lands sight unseen, especially as they intended to make an impression on the Deverauxs in the party. They rode out through the southern gates into the fields, heading for the woods where the Royal Huntsman indicated on a map the Hunt would take place. Glancing to his Prince, Emery inquired, "So. What think you of Archades thus far, my lord?"
