The sun was already beginning its descent when Marko recognized the passing of the time. Goodness, he had been so consumed with visiting the warehouses and discussing imports and exports, he hadn't even realized so much time had passed, and now he would likely be late for supper with the family. Well, well, no matter. They were used to the elusive ways of their hardy brother, who was almost always out doing... something. Anything. Truth be told, Marko had no set profession, and no small list of skills under his belt. The man was fashioned, by members of his family, "the Handyman," for his skills in fixing just about anything. In fact, he had visited warehouses of many different products---silks for clothing, some fine imported wood from Shelbourne for building furniture, and some choice enterprises belonging to the Deliambre family which sported fine wares from many exotic regions. As a man whose resources, on the comparatively small island his family resided on, were limited, Marko had learned early in life to make contacts within the various businesses and warehouses in the cities he was fortunate enough to take time to visit, and this trip to Bordelaix was an amazing opportunity, no question about it.
Marko's first few days in Bordelaix had consisted of setting up appointments with warehouses and merchants to peruse their wares and discuss possible import and export arrangements with Nyther Isle. Then he went about fixing what needed to be fixed in House Naia's residence near the lake, which was a task that had taken a few days, since every room of every family member had to be set up as they liked it and Marko rarely designated these tasks to other people, knowing that his family appreciated him taking a personal interest in their comfort.
Truth be told, Marko had little time to actually enjoy himself on this venture. He had attended the functions he was expected to, but he had not bothered to enter his name in the tournament that was to be held in some weeks, and he was of a mind not to attend it at all, unless his presence was expressly desired. There were so many things to do before the family returned to Nyther Isle, and with the fate of Vasile up in the air currently it was imperative that he look out for his family's stability and interest and the interest of the island at large.
As Marko made his way out of the last warehouse---one belonging to the Deliambre family---he brushed some dust from his trim jacket (a much more prim and proper article of clothing than he usually wore) and took out his pocket watch in the hopes of ascertaining whether or not he would have time to get home before supper, or if he should eat out before returning to the Lavender Quarter. As he kept his attention on the watch, he did not notice the approach of another noble...
