She had gotten up early to try some sketches by the lakeside. Having been there earlier in the month she had been accompanied by Ian and was grateful for the company and to have him be the one to bring her back home after she found herself lost. It was a great little bonding time between cousins and she felt safe.
Now she wanted that alone time, that time to muster through another drawing. She wanted the blues of the lake, and the greens of the trees surrounding it. Carrying along a satchel of her sketchpad and colors, Kenna walked the worn out path toward the lakeside. Finding a smooth flat rock, she set up her supplies to start her drawing process. First she started with sketching the outline by drawing lightly with the charcoal, and then bringing in the color with the pastels.
After the sun had risen higher into the sky, but still slightly cooler than normal, Kenna had gotten up to go stretch her legs and joints. Sitting for quite a while she needed the time to stretch and warm herself up, her cloak only kept her warm for only so long before her body heat disappeared. It was while she was washing her hands off in the water that she heard papers rustling. Standing up from her spot, she could see a figure by her belongings.
”Hey! Leave that alone, it’s not yours!” Kenna yelled at the figure as she grabbed her skirts into her hand and ran after the figure. Her sketchpad was being taken, her drawings! Kenna was protective of her drawings and everything in it. It was like her diary, she drew everything she enjoyed and kept dear to her heart. Through her flight to save her sketchpad, a large tree root caught her foot, sending her flying through the air. A crack could be heard as her foot met up with the root, a shot of pain climbing up through her leg. A rock caught the teenager’s fall sending her into darkness as her body lay at the shore of the lake, the waves gently lapping at her.
