With the first song coming to an end, he concluded his dance with Nicolette and placed a kiss upon her hand in proper thanks. Now would come the next endeavor and one of the court announcers came to the center and cleared his throat.
“And now, lords, ladies, and their Royal Highnesses. We would like to take this time to share with you some of our customs and traditions hailing from ancient times. As you know, the people of Vasile are a passionate lot and dance was a form of ultimate expression. Allow us to teach you the Lubitorri de Dans, also known as the Dance of Lovers. His Grace shall lead and select a lady of his choice.”
Marcus had taken some time on figuring out who he would select as a partner. He had pondered many of the options and after this conversation with Nicolette it helped cement his decision almost indefinitely. Carefully Marcus scanned his bright blue eyes across the room before seeing where she stood surrounded by a few other women. Slowly he strolled over in her direction, a bit of confusion painted on the ladies’ expressions as they tried to figure out whom he was approaching as the final choice. The room was silent as the musicians would wait until the lady accepted his invitation before they would begin to play.
Once he was only a few feet away from her, Marcus gave her a mischievous smirk. There was something about her that he could sense. Each of the four sisters had their individual spirits. Of all of them, Marcus felt that she was the better choice. With a proper bow he greeted Juliette with, “Your Highness.” Then he stood up tall again and offered her his hand, “Shall we turn a few heads by you honoring me with this dance?”
Only when she slipped her hand into his would the music begin. Whether Juliette was prepared for what was in store for her was another question entirely, but Marcus was willing to wager that he had selected an admirable partner in this endeavor. Typically his instincts weren’t usually wrong.
