Dear Players:
It has come to our attention that there is some confusion regarding the setting for the Kingdom of Archades. We’d like to offer some clarification in the hopes that it will make play more smooth.
The Kingdom of Archades is registered as medieval fantasy. The only fantasy aspect of the setting is that it is not set in the ‘real world.’ Otherwise, it is set in medieval/Renaissance history. We are not sticklers for historical accuracy, but we do ask that you make an effort to conform with the time period with your character’s attire, behavior, weapons, transportation, and so on.
More, Archades is set in a feudal era, where there is a very clearly defined hierarchy of authority. While we have adapted feudalism to suit this setting, if you are not sure what exactly this means, we have provided details HERE. Please read this thoroughly and do not hesitate to speak with one of the staff if you have any questions regarding feudalism.
Consequently, there still remains the established system of liege and vassal. Those who seek to flout, overstep or refuse to acknowledge that authority often find themselves in difficult positions. Please keep this in mind - your characters are answerable to their Lord or Lady for their actions and words. These Lords and Ladies hold absolute authority over your characters’ positions in the family, futures, marriages, and circumstances.
Does this mean you can’t question, disagree with or challenge them? No, of course not, but like anything, it’s how you do it that matters. This is not the 21st century where we can sit here and say that respect has to be earned. This is the 15th century, where respect not given carries a very high price. Please try to keep this in mind when posting! As our rules state - every action has a consequence!
Thank you, as always, for your contributions and your activity. If you have any questions about this, or need clarification, please reach out to the staff - we will be happy to discuss it with you.
Sincerely,
Jenna and Josh
