Lord Delamara had only ever been kind to her, a congenial host and a welcoming spirit; for Kathryn, that made him a comfortable person for her to be around and thus allowed her to be at ease herself. Talking came more readily, though she did not know his thoughts towards courtship. She was not betrothed, nor likely to be any time soon, at least not until the question of succession in Montenoire was settled, but there were no such restrictions on friendship. Dederik Delamara could be, and hopefully would be, a good friend in the weeks to come.
Laughing softly at his artful compliment, Kathryn replied in turn, "The same can be said for handsome, eligible Counts, Lord Delamara, but you are kind to say so." The mirth lighted her eyes then, as she added, "Rest assured that few to none will notice my absence, at least for the better part of ten days." More than that and even the neglectful hosts would likely take notice, she knew. An incident would arise that would put a strain on relations best avoided.
Tilting her head with interest, she nodded thoughtfully. "We do this in Montenoire. House parties, they're called, where a select group comes for several days' respite to enjoy the pleasures found in the country estates outside of the city. Do they have such parties here?" Frankly, she was considerably tempted by such a prospect, if it could be arranged. Bordelaix was nice enough, but Kathryn longed to escape to some place far more restful, quiet and peaceful.
"You are rather popular, I have noticed. I hope your business is going well?" She was not prying, but genuinely hopeful for his success as a potential friend. "I have seen some of your family about the city, and they look to be blooming here, which is a compliment to you, no doubt."
