Since her fight with her sisters, if it could be called a fight, Fede found an excuse almost every day to be out of the Ibarra house. There were plenty of places for her to visit and see where she didn't have to face Arrosa or Therese. Kattalin was good about letting her join in on some of her daily errands and other tasks too, so that no-one became suspicious about her being gone all the time. She had not had much of a chance to see Hem, but he had mentioned to her once that he worked for a nobleman who was in Bordelaix too. He was probably busy with that, though she hoped to see him soon.
Her patience was rewarded when Fede received a note from Hem, inviting her to join him for an afternoon ride outside of the main city. It was a perfect way to escape for a little while and to spend some time with him. There was a part of Fede that was a little worried that he'd gotten bored with her or found some-one else to spend time. She did not know about his meeting with Arrosa or her sister's demands on him to build trust. All the same, she was glad to know he still wanted her company, hurrying to get ready.
The air had a little chill to it, making her glad she thought to bring a cloak along. Strapping it to the back of her saddle, Fede thanked the stable-hand as he helped her up and nodded to the guard who had insisted on going with her. Deciding it was easier to just accept rather then fight with Therese about it, she trusted him to keep up as she led the way out of the court-yard and into the streets. They were to meet at the gates, so that was where Fede headed.
As the gate came into view, she looked for Hem, wondering if he was there yet or if she was early.
