Since coming to Bordelaix, the Duchess of Seravino had precious little opportunity to enjoy her cousin Maricela's company, an oversight she sought to remedy forthwith by sending a note inviting Cela to join her on a jaunt to the markets. There were some items she hoped to secure for upcoming events, and no one was more enjoyable to go shopping with than Cela. Her cousin had a keen eye and sharper wits that ensured the afternoon would not pass dully. In the note, she included that they might secure some pastries and then retire to the townhouse to refresh themselves with tea.
The invitation accepted and the meeting time agreed upon, Elena ensured she was prompt, preparing herself to wait for Cela. Her cousin was a delightful woman, beautiful and charming, yet she was prone to making fashionably tardy entrances. Not in the least troubled by it as she was well-accustomed to her cousin's diva-like behavior, she entertained herself by watching the people present in the marketplace while seated on a bench with a Montefiore House Guard standing his duty with her.
For the afternoon's outing, she selected a gown of blue velvet trimmed in gold braid against the subtle chill in the air, her hair confined in a matching snood. Though the sun was out, Elena did not bother with a hat or a sunshade, knowing they'd be under cover most of the time. Whether the gown would meet Cela's approval, she waited to see, her gaze flickering about to catch sight of Maricela.
Where was Her Highness?
