Character Name: Morganne Vaughn
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Birthdate: August 24th, 1403
City / Region: Mynyth Sheabagh, Vulcanis
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Vaughn
Played by: Kerry Washington
Appearance:
A natural beauty, Morganne has chocolate brown eyes that match the shade of her hair and fits well the darkness of her skin. Blessed with a smooth complexion she is proud of being dark skinned that seems milkier where it reflects the light. She is small but not waif-like rather she has an athletic body with sturdy, worked muscles. She prefers to dress in blues and yellows. She finds both colours peaceful and balanced, and vibrant. Of course, anything she does wear must be practical, unless she is dressing in Druidic garb for the sake of officiating or participating in a ritual.
Personality: Morganne is perhaps the least outwardly akin to a traditional warrior, though the trio of sisters hardly are traditional at all. While she does not first resort to aggressive or violent options, she is far from opposed to them. She enjoys less obvious means of conflict, such as crafting poisons for her sisters to use, or making a politically significant or dominant move to avoid drawn out confrontation, but will support her sisters in combat if it comes to it.
Rather unusual for a Druid, she is proud of being both a capable warrior and a spiritual leader. This does complicate her decisions, as she weighs the influence of her position and words with the threat of her staff - so to speak. She embraces her ability to channel the Gods, and participates willingly in rituals or other responsibilities laid on her as a Druid, however it is clear to anyone who knows her that unlike most others, this is not the primary side of her.
Neither leader nor witless follower among the twins, Morganne enjoys following her sisters out of duty, choice, and respect. She loves her sisters and trusts them without doubt. She feels like her life irrevocable involves them, and she considers them in her every decision. She is also rather protective of her tribe and their future, mostly interested in leaving a better legacy for the next generation. She is not particularly interested in title or position for herself, and often feels like she is no different or better than the other clansmen and women. In this way, she is particularly careful that her family doesn't get too big for their breeches.
Specific Skills or Abilities:
Character History: Born on a late summer’s night, the three entered the world in quick succession, so much so that no one remembers the order in which they emerged. Since that order is separated by mere minutes, those of Clan Vaughn see no reason to squabble over which of the triplets was born first. That they were born at all is sufficient miracle for them, especially their parents, who feared they would have no children at all.
Some in the clan speculate that the day of their birth is the last day the triplets did anything identically. They shared their father’s dark skin and hair, the dark eyes typical of a Vaughn, but where Morganne and Seren had straight hair, Cordelia’s was unruly. Where Morganne was all smiles and laughter, Seren was unwontedly sober and watchful. Seren grew like a weed while Cordelia maintained an average growth pattern. And all three gravitated towards different hobbies, preferences, and skills.
For all their differences, the triplets had an undeniable bond, and this only became more obvious as time saw them grow into their own. By the time of their teenage years, the three had already built a reputation for themselves among their clan, and even to the Cruach relatives and fellow islanders. They had cast away regular expectations of clanswomen in terms of marriage and children, instead meddling in each their own ways with the affairs of men. They learned the basics of fighting, politics, and tactics, proceeding to offer their opinions and assistance.
For herself, Morganne's skills in arts and herbology also revealed one more natural instinct: it was felt by her and her clanspeople that Morganne's soul was that of a Druid's. With this intuition being carefully fostered by other Druids in the region, she has come to be recognized for it. Morganne learned how to officiate many of the ceremonies involving this spiritual side of their people, was looked to for advice and blessing, and enjoyed growing a connection with flora, fauna, and Gods. It also allowed her to learn a certain openness of mind and spirit, boosted her natural charisma, and forced her into a certain public profile.
This open defiance of a clan mandate ruffled plenty of feathers within the clan, but their skills were such that begrudging exemption was granted briefly, the moreso when Vortigern Cruach began making his play to establish himself as High Laird of Vulcanis. Along with their cousin Meical, the heir to the Vaughn Clan laird, they were ‘loaned’ to the Cruachs in order to make his efforts a reality. Eager to prove their skills, the triplets agreed, refusing to be parted for any reason.
At twenty-four, the three are irrevocably knitted in a tight bond, each one third of a perceived whole. They do not share the same face, nor do they share the same traits of personality or physicality, but they are often of one mind and heart.
Writing Sample: "If you wish to return early in the next week, my shipmen of new minerals should've arrived. I've asked specifically for some more of the blues I believe would suit you best. Hmm?" He tried to convince his client to be patient. While he would obey and work on a gem to her specifications right away, he honestly preferred to be sure the result would be as perfect as it could be. Though the client thought themselves most knowledgeable, he had more experience with knowing which colours suited best which dresses, skin tones, hair, and so forth.
"Yes, ok, one week Mateo, no more."
His smile doubled, though it never had really left his face. Mateo clapped his hands together, and took the lady's hand. A thumb swiped over it. "You will have your gorgeous gem soon my Lady, much in time for your travel. I will make certain of that." He bent and kissed the top of her hand, for which she affixed him with a certain look before she took her leave.
