Character Name: Seren Vaughn
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Birthdate: August 24th, 1403
City / Region: Mynyth Sheabagh, Vulcanis
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Vaughn
Played by: Zoe Saldana
Appearance:
Physically, Seren can be considered visually pleasing, if not stimulating. She is of above average height for a woman, slender in build and has strong angular features that still have a quality of femininity. However, that is where the qualities of her predetermined sex end. She insists on wearing practical clothing for whatever task is before her, whether that means trousers or skirts. Fashion is not really a concept to her, since it is highly impractical. If the clothing is functional, covers her form, then that should be enough. She does, however, wear clothing that allows her to hide a pair of daggers among her form.
Personality:
Perception can be everything to a person. A person interacts with their world as they perceive it. This perception is influenced by a myriad of factors. Emotion is one of those factors and it is a powerful one. It is no wonder that people assign colors to these emotions, trying to bring them into sharper focus. To a person like Seren, none of this really makes any sense. Emotion is a strange and flitting thing to her, something that obscures perception and warps the way one should view the world. Seren has seen this for herself and as such, wants very little to do with it.
Nonetheless, she acknowledges that emotion exists and it influences the perception of others. Since perception dictates behavior, it is thus important for her to study just how these emotions will affect people. This study has expanded greatly during her formative years and into adulthood. Because of this self-imposed study, Seren feels as though she has been able to accurately deduce cause and effect of various life events. By simply studying a person for a few moments, she is safely able to ascertain their general demeanor, what they have done recently and what they may do in the near future. Such information has proven quite valuable to her.
Naturally, some in her clan hoped she would ply those very skills into something useful such as trade or politics, but Seren has no interest in such things. No, she is far more interested observing the world, learning how it works and solidifying her general theories. Indeed, it is only due to the desire to safeguard her family and, by extension, her clan, that she had learned the various marital arts in the first place. Why she feels this desire eludes and frustrates at times, even though it’s obvious to her fellow sisters. She loves her family, even if she does not affectionately display such emotion.
Emotion. It muddled things. Unacceptable.
Seren is the warrior, the guardian, seeker of knowledge and wholly logical counsel of the triplets. That she sees the world in such sharp contrast has proven useful to them, even if she is insufferable in her display of that knowledge. Despite her lithe frame, Seren has lost very few fights, seeming to know exactly where and when to strike before her opponent is even fully aware of what has happened. She prefers to disable her opponents, only killing them if absolutely necessary. If such necessity does arise, she strikes swiftly, surely, and succinctly.
Her own parents struggle to understand her, but they know her uses. Indeed, it is only her sisters that are able to have a truly meaningful conversation as they have accepted who she is and even acknowledge that she is an important facet to what they present to the world. But what she represents to others is a mystery… but not to her.
Specific Skills or Abilities:

Character History:
Born on a late summer’s night, the three entered the world in quick succession, so much so that no one remembers the order in which they emerged. Since that order is separated by mere minutes, those of Clan Vaughn see no reason to squabble over which of the triplets was born first. That they were born at all is sufficient miracle for them, especially their parents, who feared they would have no children at all.
Some in the clan speculate that the day of their birth is the last day the triplets did anything identically. They shared their father’s dark skin and hair, the dark eyes typical of a Vaughn, but where Morganne and Seren had straight hair, Cordelia’s was unruly. Where Morganne was all smiles and laughter, Seren was unwontedly sober and watchful. Seren grew like a weed while Cordelia maintained an average growth pattern. And all three gravitated towards different hobbies, preferences, and skills.
For all their differences, the triplets had an undeniable bond, and this only became more obvious as time saw them grow into their own. By the time of their teenage years, the three had already built a reputation for themselves among their clan, and even to the Cruach relatives and fellow islanders. They had cast away regular expectations of clanswomen in terms of marriage and children, instead meddling in each their own ways with the affairs of men. They learned the basics of fighting, politics, and tactics, proceeding to offer their opinions and assistance.
This open defiance of a clan mandate ruffled plenty of feathers within the clan, but their skills were such that begrudging exemption was granted briefly, the moreso when Vortigern Cruach began making his play to establish himself as High Laird of Vulcanis. Along with their cousin Meical, the heir to the Vaughn Clan laird, they were ‘loaned’ to the Cruachs in order to make his efforts a reality. Eager to prove their skills, the triplets agreed, refusing to be parted for any reason.
At twenty-four, the three are irrevocably knitted in a tight bond, each one third of a perceived whole. They do not share the same face, nor do they share the same traits of personality or physicality, but they are often of one mind and heart.
Writing Sample:
There was something damned familiar about the voice on the other side. It was a voice that he should have been familiar with, but he could not quite put his finger on it. Voices were never one of his strong suits, after all, especially when it came to women. Nonetheless, he did his utmost to focus on the moment and the confessional. Though he was not an ordained priest, this as a woman that was intent on baring her soul to him and if he could provide her some comfort...
Yet, that quickly grew awkward as soon as she made mention of a man. Of course it was a man. What in the hell was he supposed to say to this? "Temptation is one of our many trials in life and is one of the most common. We are tempted a great deal and by many sources. What is it about this man that tempts you so?" And he was not all that certain he wanted to hear about it!
