The early morning mist encased the area as each step was placed carefully before the other. Skirts became entangled with one another twisted around the legs of the person who they covered. Kenna was up early, having not been able to sleep very much the night before. With her sketchpad in tote and her charcoal pieces wrapped in a cloth she moved through the misty air toward the trees of the forest. She had a blanket with, everything carried in a small basket to keep the dew of the trees from dripping on anything, not that it was needed, the warm sun was already rising and the air was starting to become warmer with each second.
Finding herself in a groove of trees, she plopped her blanket down and grabbed the craftily made sketchbook. With countless drawings and smudging Kenna had found a clean page to take her next imagination to. She had started with the sky down. Leaving her hands smudge free and the paper clean enough to allow her to continue drawing. She had so far been immersed in the drawing that everything came naturally after starting it. While she couldn’t sleep the night before, it was catching up to her closely as the sun rose higher into the sky. The change of light helped her, but the rising heat seemed to keep things from really being comfortable. Kenna had missed the first meal, but she didn’t seem bothered by the grumbling of her stomach as she kept focused on her drawing.
Kenna had finished her drawing when the sun was at midday. Much of it was simply the trees and the sunlight peering through the trees at the horizon level. She had taken great focus on the leaves and the bark of the trees, but kept the sky and ground in much less focus. Her sketchpad laid on the blanket next to her, the charcoal wrapped back up. The rising heat felt like a comfortable blanket amongst the trees and Kenna had lied down on her side. Her shoes sat next to the blanket in the grass leaving her stockings appearing underneath her skirts as the rise and fall of her chest could be seen. Asleep Kenna was as peaceful as ever, using the warm sun as her blanket and the grass her bed. If anyone looked for her, she wasn’t far off, but she was surely out of mischief as she took in the lost sleep that escaped her the night before.
