Character Name: Silvio Deliambre
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Birthdate: December 17th
City / Region: / Calandria
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable]: Deliambre
Played by: Eddie Redmayne
Appearance:
Silvio is a lanky man, standing at 6' 0'' and weighing about 150 lbs. His light brown hair gains a reddish tint in direct sunlight. It is usually kept scruffy, and of medium to short length. His green eyes are lit up with an impish spark that fades to a subdued glow when he turns serious. Typically, he wears an even, content expression with a hint of a smile that neither encourages nor discourages people from approach him.
Clothing wise, Silvio more often than not chooses to dress in simple, middle-class material of forest colors. He typically wears a vest of hardened leather over his tunic, as it is lighter and offers more mobility than a chain vest. Also, as he often claims, he is no soldier. As a member of a noble family, he does have the option of finer garments, but reserves those for occasions when it is necessary to acknowledge his status.
As a Deliambre, Silvio is well-trained in combat and is especially dangerous with ranged weapons. He is never seen without his unique double scabbard, which holds a large all-purpose knife and a smaller, sharper knife specially balanced for throwing. Attached to his belt is a thick leather glove, a 'hood', and a small pouch that contains bits of meat for his hawk.
Personality:
The first impression that Silvio leaves is of one who lives in the now, someone who is light-hearted and mischievous. However, the more one spends time with him the more one gets the feeling that something's not quite right with that carefree persona. One might spend a few hours chatting with him, but when they finally part ways one would realize that one still didn’t know much about Silvio at all.
Indeed, it is only a cover that Silvio uses to entertain himself and others. He doesn't have anything to hide, persay, but he had long tired of the frosty politeness that seemed default in his family. Those who don’t know him might describe him as naive and trusting, but Silvio is still a Deliambre. He might seem like a trusting man, always willing to reply to a stranger’s words and following them into new adventure, but Silvio grants trust stingily. He always has a backup plan in case someone fails to prove themselves worthy of his trust.
His penchant for mischief has taught him the importance of awareness. By habit, he always has an eye out, surveying his surroundings and storing information away in case it could be of help for a speedy getaway. This has come in handy during his jaunts into the forest. He has also learned to identify subtle and often subconscious shifts in body language that tells him how far to push one of his victims.
For the most part, Silvio is an honest man. He has no wish to tell a serious lie. However, he is aware of the brutality that truth can bring, so unless he believes that someone needs to hear the ugly truth, he will remain silent. If the matter is more light-hearted, like gentle teasing or friendly devilry, he will lie until his face turns blue.
Being a younger sibling and a prankster, Silvio is more than used to being reprimanded and insulted. Not much offends him, and his fuse is a long one. The one exception is where his family is concerned. Here, he is a little blinded. As accepting as he is of his own shortcomings, he does not handle family shortcomings very well. If someone so much as looks at a relative the wrong way, Silvio will be on them in a heartbeat. He would lay down his life if it would protect or help one of his relatives.
Specific Skills or Abilities:
Background:
During his childhood, Silvio was most often found on the wrong end of trouble. His was curious, yes, but not exceptionally so. Rather, he found it amusing how quickly someone might appear at the sound of breaking glass or a startled scream. Unfortunately for the household, he had an uncanny knack of slipping away the one second that a nanny looked the other way. In his earliest years, Silvio and his twin sister were very close, but as they grew into the roles that society desired they drifted apart. As for his other siblings, he watched them blossom into what he sees as perfection. His brother Salvatore was kind, brave, charming, and an all-round knight in shining armor. His older sister Carlotta was beautiful and elegant, but not someone to be walked over. Luciana was fiery, very well-read, and a maestro with her harp.
Silvio, on the other hand... was always spoken about with exasperation and quite a few heavy sighs. Indeed, his pranks hadn't gone away at all. In fact, they only grew in size and scope. If he got the chance to go to the surrounding town, it was inevitable that he would end up with flushed cheeks and a splitting grin, walking obediently with whomever had taken him while turmoil rolled in his wake. It wasn't long before those trips became far and few in between, much to Silvio's disappointment. He tried to argue that he hadn't ever hurt anyone, nor done any irreversible damage. He had done his best to prank subtly as well, so there was very minimal damage to the family name. But this was one rule that was impossible to bend.
Instead, around his early teenage years, Silvio began exploring the natural world. He learned how to train and hunt with birds of prey, and was soon tearing around the countryside on his horse. He practiced some weaponry skills, half out of boredom and half because he was required to. The knife was the only tool that he really took a liking too, while he was dangerously clumsy with the sword. As his adolescence drew to a close, Silvio was at a loss as to what he wanted to do. His older siblings were well off and successful, but he? He is just sees himself as a tall, skinny man with a smattering of random skills and large shoes to fill.
Writing Sample:
The street was silent and eerily empty. Small footprints in the packed dirt showed that typically, this was a gathering spot for the local children. But not today. Peering down from his perch in a tall and sturdy tree, Silvio ran his eyes across a nearly invisible string as it wove around the courtyard. He straightened slightly as he caught the sound he had been listening for. It was faint, but grew louder and louder. Silvio readied his stolen knife and drew back his arm as soon as it became clear what the noise was: Rancorous laughter and boisterous bragging. A group of 3 adolescent males, all built rather stockily, swaggered around the corner. They snickered as they saw the desolate courtyard, bare except for a small pile of little trinkets and sweet treats. The largest one spoke, his words carrying clearly through the air.
"It is a miracle, what a few solid punches can do, is it not?" They cackled again, and Silvio rolled his eyes. Not that any of them could see, of course. He smiled as they began sifting through their spoils, not once looking up. With a deft movement, the young man in the tree sent the knife hurling down. It struck the wooden wall across from the boys and held there, quivering. With a yelp the boys jumped back, and the leader looked with confusion and fear at the sudden and startling reappearance of his weapon. They approached the knife cautiously, scanning the area for the knife thrower. What they failed to see, however, was the bucket suspended from the roof.
With the string holding it upright severed by the knife, it slowly tipped forwards, emptying a load of fish guts onto the boys' heads. The bucket itself slipped free after a few moments, landing on the ground with a clang. The boys focused their gazes on the message that had been written on the metal: Stop being unpleasant. The children don't like it. Your mothers probably won't like you right now either. I'd recommend a thorough bathing. Silvio struggled to contain his laughter as he lept nimbly from the tree to the roof and away from the courtyard.
