Character History: Nabir ibn Fahlad al Khalid was born to a man who he spent many years looking up to. He had wanted to be just like his father, believing him to be a man who was religious, generous, and strong. Of course, he discovered autonomy at the age of 14, wanting to become his own man but still looking up to his father. He was born into a family of many children, two older siblings and two younger. Nabir loves each and every one of them with all of his heart, feeling blessed to be born into the family he was born in and rarely taking them for granted. He is particularly close to Bashir and Leilah, even though he can be very protective over them. He can be very protective over any and all of his family members. He was born to put family second to the tribe, though and lives by that principle still. He is very kind to their tribe people, being the son of their leader and trying to set a good example.
When he was a young lad and wasn't following his father, he would be following Bashir around. He was insistent on staying by his brother's side and would often refuse being pulled away from him. He often practices his weaponry skills with Bashir as well as letting him read short stories every now and then. He maintains a strong presence among his siblings, trying to be both a good brother and example. Teaching his younger sisters the way of honour that was instilled into him from a very young age. He would always remind them that they were of the sand and the sand was of them. He adores Leilah, denying that he has a favourite even though it's possibly her. He grew up wanting to protect her non-stop, this overprotective trait settling in even now as she has grown into a young woman. He does know when it's best to step back though, letting her have her space. He is a person who reads other and he reads his family members very well, although tries not to be intrusive.
Nabir was devistated when he lost his mother, missing her often. He pays respects to her in his own way. He keeps his family close but his enemies closer. When he was 12, he wanted to learn as much as possible and took to take up the sword and did so successfully. He followed that with cartography which he grew to love. He picked up his business skills from observing his father and he had been writing ever since he was 7. He took on small jobs with local businesses watching how they handled prices. At age 16 he discovered his creativity for stories. He wrote fables and legends, using his siblings as the heroic characters. To this very day, he tries to keep following his father’s example although he does stray off onto his own path every now and then – for better or for worse.
Writing Sample: It was 4am in the morning however Nabir was wide awake and dressed. It was his second day of his observation of the local baker. He silently slipped through his home, being careful not to wake up his father. Once outside he took a breath of the air. It was cool from the night, however he knew soon it would be hot and humid again. Walking through the town he arrived at his destination, he knocked on the door of the baker, a man who was friendly with his father. The baker welcomed him in with a big smile, Nabir took a seat and waited for the day of the Baker to start.
He observed the delivery of the ingredients and the squabble over prices. Once the price was eventually negotiated over the baker got to work. Nabir would help him with some of the odd and simple jobs before he got exhausted and cooled down with some water.
With the day starting the baker opened his shop. Nabir noted that the prices had risen from the day before. Asking the baker he explained that the prices for the ingredients was higher, and in order to make a profit he would have to sell higher too. Nabir pulled out a little book and noted this down with his neat handwriting.
