Character Name: Maria Isabeau Fontaine
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Birthdate: Feb 10th
City / Region: Vielha, Estersea
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Fontaine by birth.
Played by: Emma Roberts
Appearance:
Maria Isabeau likes looking good. She enjoys making her own dresses. She likes modelling them even more though considering the time she puts into them. She keeps her hair down mostly unless it is in the way of something and she needs it out of her way. She then pulls it back into a pony tail.
Personality:
Intelligence : Maria enjoys finding out information. She likes to learn as much as possible. When she can she will sit and read. She enjoys writing almost as much as she does reading. She often tries to learn something new every day if possible.
Reserved : She will observe and listen before speaking. She likes to look the shy young lady when in fact she is just taking in information about those around her. She will speak, but prefers to watch those around her for reactions. She often will observe things and let Tamara know later about them. One never knows when they will learn something useful by just observing.
Mischief : She likes to see how people will react to things. She will sometimes say something off the wall to see what people will do. She knows to be careful with this though. She isn’t one to cause real trouble though. If anything she prefers a quiet evening in the corner most often times with a good book.
Loyal : She will do what she can for her family. She is very close to her parents. Maria tries to be the young lady they expect of her. She wants to help Tamara any way possible as well, but isn’t sure how. If asked she would be there for any of her family.
Dancing : Oh what a thing she hates to do. Maria doesn’t care to have the male lead, but she doesn’t say anything. She knows her part in this. If only she could master such a thing. She doesn’t dance well given that she often steps on the toes of her partners. She would rather be doing anything else. Her parents think it’s because she hasn’t found the right dance partner yet. She disagrees in her mind, but never says a word.
Playing : Maria enjoys playing the vielle and practices daily with it. She likes it when she can sit down and play something beautiful. It also helps when she can combine her playing with any songs that Jessa might come up with. It isn’t always easy to do that, but she enjoys the challenge of trying.
Specific Skills or Abilities:
Dress making/Sewing

Courtly Manners
Musical Instrument
Knowledge of textile merchants
Character History:
Maria was born on a February afternoon during a storm. She didn’t cry out but once and was silent after that. She would be teased when she was older about how quiet she was from her first day in the world. She would usually quip back that she was just looking around seeing if she liked the world first before saying anything.
She studied right beside her older siblings. She was a pretty good scholar when it came to it, and enjoyed the lessons. The only one she hated was dancing. She did her best to be the best lady around knowing her mother was counting on her. She saw early on that Tam would rather be out fighting. She didn’t mind though about this. It meant that even though she was third born she had a purpose.
The lessons went on even after her siblings were off playing knights, but not together. She later learned her sister was on that track while her brother was interested in being a knight. He trained sure, but he took more to animals. She didn’t say anything though. Having learned there is a right time for words and a wrong time, she keeps quiet enjoying just seeing things. She had learned about this when she was sitting at tea with her mother. She was talking to her mother and missed something said by a passing maid. It was the last time she would miss something that could be important.
She made her first dress when she was only twelve, and it wasn't bad. There were a few flaws. She continued on with this getting better with practice. She eventually started selling dresses once they were deemed good.
Maria does her best to show her mother just how ladylike she can be. She will often think of the best things to do to prove she is ready to be out in the world. She wants to see new places having read so much. She isn’t sure though if that is wise given how much her parents are counting on her.
Maria was at tea with her mother when she heard the news. She thought she would pass the test, but when word came she had been pouring her mother’s tea. She dropped the teapot and shattered it. Everything seemed to be turning upside down. It was even more confirmed with that when Tam was made head of the house.
Having time in Bordelaix seemed like a good idea in her mind. She wasn’t sure if she would be allowed to go or not. She hoped so. She would have to remind that only family, close friends, and the like could use ‘Maria’. She would be the cold distant lady for those other people using her full first name with them. She hoped they would be ready for what lie ahead.
Writing Sample:
Oh no this again… She thought knowing what today’s lesson was about. She sighed and got ready quickly. It wasn’t right for a lady to keep people waiting on her. She did her best to be punctual at all times. If anything she liked being early. It gave her time to read, and she knew it was a good thing to do. It would create a good reputation if someone was early to things. She shook her head and went down when she was ready. If anything she was curious on what partner she would have today.
When she got there, a young man was sitting in a chair looking around. She hadn’t seen him before. She sighed wondering if he was any good at dancing. She knew the usual routine. A new dance partner to help her get the hang of something she just had no skill at. Go figure.
Being the dutiful daughter though she stood where she was told and waited for the young man to place his hands right. He did it without any trouble. It was interesting to see someone able to do that. She didn’t say anything as they started to waltz. She knew where the trouble lie. About ten seconds into dancing she stepped on his toes twice. He winced but said nothing. She then managed somehow to get her foot tangled with his and they went down in a heap.
“Forget it! I don’t care how pretty she is. I’m not doing this,” the young man said. Once she was sitting on the floor instead of laying on top of him he got up and left. She sighed. Another one bites the dust…
