The Rook
General Plot Idea:
Karim is a powerful and culturally proud Rohari Emir who rules over House al-Azariya a nomadic tribe that claims no city as their own, nor any castle. Religiously adherent and proud of being nomadic as he feels to building strength and character he is and his tribe tend to avoid cities wholly and completely disliking the soft and privileged life of those within it who do not known how to survive outside those walls for longer than a few except for a few handful. His lifestyle comes from herding, trading and occasionally raiding the borders of traders not bound to or from Rohari cities.
A strong adherent to the Rohari Code, Book of Falak and Rohari culture he is a honorable man of his own right, father to nearly a dozen children and a husband to three wives. Romantically he knows his search for wives isn't finished and plans to wed many more as life goes on. Loyal to the Caliph and towards a strong way of Rohari life, he's a man who will choose strength over weakness of softness any time. He could use allies, and it's likely he already has enemies who distrust his nomadic ways or occasional raiding and even some who seek vengeance against him.
While he's not known to be the kindest man, nor the most willing to lend aid to others he is a gracious host, loving husband and father and protector and leader of his tribe.
Specific Plot Ideas:
- Romance - A proud patriarch and polygamist two of his wives were once hostages taken as retribution, he is not above taking a new wife though given his honorable and cultural ways he will never consider bedding a woman outside of marriage.
- Combat/Raiding - For the nomadic tribes raiding and occasional combat are common place. A man who cannot protect his family, his property or his people is not truly a man at all. Karim himself is an accomplished fighter having fought for his tribe and within his tribe, having taken life and spared life. And having led raids to benefit his own tribe countless times venture too close to his routes and he may just raid your caravans.
- Family - Despite the harsh way of life, Karim is fiercely loyal and protective of his family and as a man who multiple wives he knows when and how to temper heated debates and arguments within. A father of more children then most people have family members he knows patience, and how to manage them all. If you are within his family you can expect his love, protection and guidance.
- Friends/Allies - Karim has few friends outside his tribe, though it is due to mostly his isolated life with his tribe he is knowledgeable of the Rohari Emirs though does not consider all of them to be friends. He has few friends as merchants who pay tribute, in goods or information on other merchants. But he is a man who also seeks allies outside Rohari despite his culture he can recognize the value in outside allies and relationships.
