Character Name: Charlotte Remington
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Birthdate: July 2nd 1410
City / Region: Montenoire
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Remington
Played by: Alicia Vikander
Appearance: She loves earrings and accessories, but doesn’t let herself be boxed in to any one fashion - or to be fashionable in the first place. She doesn’t try to set the pace for the other ladies in the Grand Duchy, instead she quite does what she wants. She seems to always look good regardless. She enjoys make up and done up hair - especially braids. And jewels. She is healthy, and bears only one notable scar along her spine from a idiotic injury only a couple inches from leaving her paralyzed.
Personality: Charlotte is a free-spirited girl, unwilling to be bound by regulations and expectations, a creative and feeling soul. That said, she also doesn’t have an issue with authority, she doesn’t feel the need to rebel at every opportunity. She is bold and brave in the face of conflict or trouble. She does not shy from a challenge.
However, Charlotte does not go out of way to gather responsibilities. She doesn’t outright decline them, but she tends to skirt around them by creatively re-arranging the circumstances. She doesn’t get too involved in politics, but neither is she blind to them - instead, she finds she has more success by passing those topics on to her siblings and helping things along in whatever way she sees fit. She is also a bit difficult to predict on matters of large, important decisions where consulted. She may present with an unforeseen opinion.
She is a stark defender of the arts, making sure their home and city, in fact kingdom, celebrates art and showcases it. She would love nothing more than curate galleries upon galleries, although she enjoys more than just visual arts. Charlotte may be seen fraternizing with peasants and low nobility if they are enjoying a play, showing off a new painting, designing a beautiful dress, singing a graceful tune. She is not snobby about her interests, she wants to share it with the world. And she won’t hear anyone telling her to give it up, either.

Character History: Charlotte was a bit of an insufferable baby, but thankfully her mother’s voice and very presence acted as a pacifier. The two bonded quickly and closely, a relationship that lasted until her mother later passed away prematurely. She was doted upon, spoiled as any child of the Grand Duke might, and having two older siblings she had a lesser share of responsibility to manage. She was never jealous of her brother and sister, and was quite a friend to them, leaning on them for advice, trusting each of them to be the voice of reason or a play partner whenever she needed them.
She took to her private tutoring with a bit of a bore, but didn’t wish to disappoint her mother. She was simply too smart for her own good, not challenged enough, not finding the material ever quite so interesting or clever. She loved the arts, however, and was encouraged to push herself to succeed as a painter. She never cared to learn trivial matters, such as business acumen, or swordsmanship. Charlotte still finished a rounded education, as well as those things more important to nobility of either gender.
By the time she came into pubescence, her mother passed away. It led to a half-decade of anger, outbursts, and rebellion - qualities that were not otherwise present in her. She strayed from her guards, stayed out late, avoided her tutors, trashed her art, insulted her mentors. It took many years for the phase to pass, but never did she truly overcome her mother’s passing. Charlotte never warmed up to her father quite the same way, and they exchanged some nasty words in their mutual grief, but at least their father never sought to remarry - this she never would have accepted.
By the age of adult-hood, Charlotte found herself more free and independent than ever. She had made herself a reputation of being a champion for arts, but also for greatly enjoying a party. She dabbled in drugs, mingled with the opposite sex, and with commoners, but always stayed on this side of scandal. She figured that life was worth living while she had the chance, and she took every opportunity.
Once her siblings left as Ambassadors for Montenoire in Archades, Charlotte took on a few additional tasks - like or not. Though she did not shy away from the opportunity to be useful, it was a sobering reminder of what life would be life, no doubt, upon marriage. It would therefore come as no surprise to Nicholas and Kathryn when she petitioned, and it was eventually agreed, for her to join her sister, in her new station, at the Archadean Court.
Writing Sample:
Charlotte laughed and sipped at her goblet of wine. It was more of a flute really, in these nice little bronze glasses, which absolutely explained the high number of refills she'd had by now. Her present company were some of her best friends, including Miranda who recently married a man who lived far away and now regretfully could not spend much time with her friends.
“Oh, but Sir, but Sir! However can I do what you ask of me, that would be a travesty…!” She elongated her words for dramatic effect, leaning forward and flowing out a free hand in-between the four of them, sitting across a table in the courtyard of a favorite locale of theirs. “Sir! I mustn’t kiss the girl. I couldn’t! Why! She is… she is a toad!” She repeated with the same level of affront earlier displayed by the actor at the play they had seen. It was not a new one, but it was always funny.
Her friends laughed too. The night was late, there were few savoury people still along in the roads beyond, but they didn’t care. Charlotte had nothing to do in the morning - nothing she cared to do anyways - and was meeting with a few ladies in the late afternoon. It was plenty of time to make up for the illness that would come with an overabundance of drink.
