Plans were falling into place with a rapidity that made Daniela slightly nervous. Not a great deal had gone right lately for the Savarese family, leaving her feeling somewhat lacking in confidence. She felt the need to change that, asking her cousins to join her for a quiet discussion before dinner was served that evening. They had a right to know what changes were in the wind and how they might be affected by them; if they had plans of their own, Dani hoped to hear them. They'd stood still long enough. It was time to move forwards.
With that in mind, she had several bottles of the family's reserve brought up, along with goblets. These discussions tended to progress more smoothly if everyone had alcohol in hand to brace nerves and smooth the awkward moments of revelation, her father once told her. He'd always made a point of conducting family discussions over food and drinks, she remembered. It gave everyone somewhere safe to look and tamped down the need to fidget, especially if a person was put on the spot. While she hoped no one would feel that awkward, it didn't hurt to have a contingency plan.
Pouring a small amount into a goblet for herself preemptively, Daniela sipped the wine wistfully, wishing Antonio was present. She questioned and second-guessed herself a great deal since her elevation to Countess, feeling afraid that she would make significant mistakes that put the family at risk. The Duke assured her thus far that she appeared to be doing well, but the doubts lingered all the same. Surely it was natural?
Trying to put the lingering misgivings from her mind, she wondered what her father's reactions would be to how she'd handled her forthcoming betrothal, and marriage. A soft chuckle came with a shake of her head - Daniela still was astonished at herself for how she'd approached the Duke and secured not only his permission, but his blessing. Hopefully, her cousins would feel the same once they arrived. Their blessings were needed for her future... and theirs.
