The invitation came from Lord Gardiner, inviting the Deschênes clan up to Lockewood to join in the festivities the Shelbourne duke planned for their royal visitors, then the Forestier Lord could escort his liege's daughters back to their home. In light of the recent attacks, Daragh was caught in a predicament - good manners said he needed to accept the invitation and fulfill his duty, but he had a mess to clean up too. That needed to be done before he could go north in good-conscience. The safety of the Royal Princesses took priority.
Sitting in his Study, Daragh thought he had a way of achieving both things. He could send some of his family to Lockewood with the assurance that he would join them as soon as he could. It would be a good chance for some of his family members to make friends, to start looking for potential spouses and opportunities for them to move past the boundaries of Forestier. Isolation was not a good thing. He had the future to think about, not only for himself, but his family members. Satisfied with his decision, he called to one of the passing servants. "If you see Lady Eimilie, please ask her if she can stop by here. I'd like a word with her." The maid nodded and hurried off after she curtsied.
Daragh was not a sophisticated man and he did not stand on formality in his own home. Probably wasn't the smartest way to run his household, but he had their respect and loyalty. That was what mattered to him most. He did not want to rule by fear. Forestier needed its people united, since life here was not that easy. Bandits came and went, trying to make a home for themselves in the forest, taking advantage of the high-way that ran through the region. He would have to send a guard with those he sent north, he knew. No chances would be taken with their lives.
While he waited for Emmy, he pulled a map closer to study it and begin parceling it out into sections for searching and bandit eradication. Daragh was not going to sit back and let the recent attacks pass without a response, especially when the bandits were bold enough (and stupid enough) to attack him personally and threaten the ladies.
