The road had been a long one. The quarry was a particularly crafty one, able to blend into crowds and create some clever obstacles. However, the hunter had cut a path through them easily enough to track him down. In essence, Gabriel hunted in a style similar to that of a mountain lion; he stalked after the prey, watched their every movement and waited for the perfect moment to strike. The method, tried and true, had proven itself once again. The man was captured, the debt owed was extracted (if not through a lengthy and difficult conversation) and all was right with the bank's coffers once again. The man had been quietly relieved to see the walls, buildings and spires of beautiful Oria once again.
As he into Thornfield Hall, it was as though he had never left. The man knew every single nook and cranny which helped him slip into the structure without being noticed, and thus without ceremony. True, the servants obeyed the wishes of the ruling family and never did things with fanfare, but Gabriel appreciated the practice. That he managed to startle a servant on the way in through the kitchens told him of his success. No apology was uttered to the woman, instead he merely continued on his way.
The first order of business was to meet with his brother to reassure him that the missing funds had been secured. As he made his way down the hallway, he contemplated the wording of his report. There was no doubt in his mind, however, that he would likely be joined by a family member along the way. In fact, he would be frankly disappointed if Adele did not realize he had returned home.
